2 Page 2 Long-Term Care Renovation Project Complete Just three months after the start of construction to create a more homelike environment on second floor, our residents, families, employees, and over 150 community guests joined us in celebration at a Housewarming Party. The long-term care community now reflects warmth and calm with new color tones, decorations, furniture, carpet, and lighting. No tears were shed while reminiscing about the removal of the age old nurses station! Instead, everyone looked on with admiration at the new lounge created in its place, accentuated with fish, birds, and real plants to exemplify livelihood and nature. Before Renovation After Renovation June 12, 2012 Ribbon Cutting Ceremony Employee Takes Time to Mentor Others, Receives Recognition and Award from Peers The Wisconsin Health Information Management Association recognized Bobbie Schulz, Registered Health Information Technician for Dove Healthcare since 2006, this past spring as the Professional Practice Mentor of the Year for Wisconsin. Nominated by the Chippewa Valley Technical College because of her positive influence on new Health Information Technology students, the following is an excerpt from their nomination letter: Each and every semester as far back as we can remember, Bobbie has provided an outstanding professional practice site to multiple students. She often accepts more than one student at a time. She often spends one-on-one time working with the students. This is a real testament to Bobbie s commitment to the profession and our local program. Bobbie provides an extensive tour of the HIM department and care facilities and also works with HIT student volunteers. Bobbie has served on our program s Advisory Committee for a number of years. Bobbie always says YES! Congratulations Bobbie and thank you for all that you do for our residents, our company, and your community! First on left: Bobbie Schulz, Professional Practice Mentor of the Year New Medical Director Announced After 15 years as Medical Director of Dove Healthcare, Dr. Peter Wagner turned the reigns over in April 2012 to Dr. Lawrence Sprecher. An Internal Medicine provider for Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire, Dr. Sprecher provides oversight of the quality of medical care and consultation in care related policy and procedure for both our South and West Locations. 4 Page 4 Advancing Quality: New Nurse Practitioner Service After several months of collaborative efforts with Mayo Clinic Health System-Home Health and Hospice, Nurse Practitioner (NP) Services are now available to residents residing at Dove Healthcare-West, 1405 Truax Boulevard. Joey Pettis, Director of Nursing said, As part of the overall Dove Healthcare quality improvement process, the NP Services, as an adjunct to the involvement of our Medical Director Dr. Sprecher, enhances quality of care by providing a higher level of medical intervention. Anticipated outcomes include: lower hospital readmissions improved nursing performance coordination of care and medical goal development nursing protocol / procedure development These outcomes will be realized through the following NP Services provided on-site daily, Monday Friday: exams, order writing/clarification, coordination of care, and nursing direction; communication with the attending MD referrals to heart failure clinics, anticoagulation clinics, palliative care programs and other ancillary providers to enhance consistency of care nurse education, admission review visits, and medically necessary visits routine regulatory visits and coordination of care between consultants Dove Healthcare-South has experienced significant value and outcomes since adding NP Services, a partnership with Eau Claire Medical Clinic, in spring If you have any questions, please contact the Director of Nursing Jan Hayden at our South Location or Joey Pettis at our West Location. Joey Pettis Director of Nursing West Location Sister Facilities Welcome New Directors In May of this year after the Director of nine years advanced her career into nursing, Kim Neuenburg joined the team at Orchard Hills Assisted Living. Kim previously enjoyed 16 years as a Certified Nursing Assistant and most recently, two years in assisted living management. Kim shared with us, I am very excited to be part of the team at Orchard Hills because I truly enjoy working with the elderly and their families. I live in Eau Claire with my better half, Matthew, our 9 year old son Brandon, and our dog Riley. When I m not working I enjoy spending time with family, which usually revolves around watching, playing, or coaching sports. If you are ever in the neighborhood, please stop by to meet Kim and take a tour of the beautiful residence, located adjacent to Dove Healthcare-West. After the previous Director decided to slow life down and transition to the business office, Alex Price joined the team at Rutledge Home Assisted Living and Memory Care. Alex is a graduate of the University Wisconsin-Eau Claire Health Care Administration program and came to us Kim Neuenburg Director of Orchard Hills with valuable experience assisting operations at a skilled nursing facility and leading a community based residential facility and a residential care apartment complex. Alex said, I am very excited to be a member of the Dove Healthcare team. Dove Healthcare has always been a staple of quality health care in the state, and I m honored to become a part of the organization. In his spare time, Alex enjoys golfing and spending time with his family and friends. We Have Good News to Share with You! I arrived at Dove Healthcare-West feeling completely hopeless after open heart surgery. Physically too weak to press a call light, and emotionally shocked, depressed and exhausted, I was ready to die. In the positive and loving atmosphere of Dove Healthcare-West, I found hope again..the entire professional staff was patient, loving, and encouraging. From the housekeepers, to the nurses, dieticians, therapists, and helpers I was treated with knowledge, respect, and dignity. Therapy was difficult and progress was slow, but they wouldn t give up. They were an unbeatable team Before I was well enough to go home, all strangers to me, they became my loving friends. I was smiling again after my month s stay. I cried when I had to leave. Thank you Dove Healthcare-West. Eleanor (Ellie) Paulson My mother was a long time resident of Dove Healthcare-West over six years. I believe, and my wife Gail concurs, that the word CARE is most appropriate for describing the staffs outstanding attitude during these years. We have always felt that their personal attention and loving care went beyond the actual job description of the staff. Our comfort level was always at a high level thanks to the special people caring for Mom at Dove Healthcare-West. Thank you Dove Healthcare! Jack Florin After my complete knee surgery I stayed at Dove Healthcare-South for two weeks. Rehab started the next day, twice a day, by wheelchair. I can t say enough good things about how I was taken care of! They helped to get back my strength and balance with care. Everybody made me feel comfortable in my room and in rehab. Such a great group of kindness and understanding. After five weeks of out-patient therapy, I am back walking (with no pain or limp!) and use steps that I hadn t done for five years! Transitions Rehabilitation is the right thing to do! Jo Webb I entered Dove Healthcare-South in order to rehab from my second hip replacement. I did not have professional rehab during my first hip replacement and I am progressing much more rapidly than I did then. Without Dove Healthcare my recuperation would not have been this rapid. Everything about Dove Healthcare-South was first-rate, the facilities, the food, etc. The outstanding feature of your operation is the capability and friendliness of your staff. They are superb!
