2 What is DART? DART is a specialist training provider which contracts with the Skills Funding Agency (SFA), to offer land-based training in Derbyshire and surrounding counties. Training, assessment and certification for eligible people is FREE. Employers with apprentices age over 19 will be required to pay a contribution towards the cost of the programme. DART is not a college and does not offer full-time courses. All learners with DART must be in employment or on work placements. We can often help young people find a work placement/employment and will also assist employers looking for a young person as a learner. Your hours of work will be agreed with your employer and will be between 30 (minimum) and 40 (maximum) hours per week. All programmes have the following benefits: Learners can start at ANY time of the year Training and assessment for all eligible learners, of any age Minimum Apprenticeship wage of 3.50 Employers may pay more than the minimum rate above Paid holidays and benefits are accrued during the Apprenticeship Additional specialist days of training Expert career information, advice and guidance. AA also involves information gathering, decision making and key business skills such as English, ICT, Maths and teamwork in preparation for a supervisory role. An AA is regarded as equivalent to 2 A Levels which means that successful apprentices can progress on to a Higher National Diploma or a Foundation Degree course (see qualification table below). YOUR NEXT MOVE: SCHOOL LEAVERS If you are still at school, our best advice is to get as much work experience as possible, perhaps at weekends or in the holidays. Remember also that the better your school leaving qualifications are, the greater your choice is at 16 or 18. EMPLOYED WORKERS/EMPLOYERS/VOLUNTEERS Contact DART, we will assess your eligibility and advise you on the most appropriate training and assessment to meet your needs. MAKING AN APPLICATION You can apply direct to DART via our web-site ( - we will then contact you to discuss learning options and can assist with finding a suitable work placement. We will make all reasonable efforts to take on and support any person who has additional learning or social needs; most programmes can be adapted for learners requiring additional support.
