Topics will include reducing primary cesarean section rates, the benefits of gentle cesarean sections and placing baby skin to skin after birth, neonatal abstinence syndrome and the effects on breastfeeding, and oxygen use in laboring patients and neonates. Conference Objectives Upon conclusion of this conference, participants should be able to: 1. Discuss how to implement evidence-based practice in the clinical setting 2. Describe reasons to decrease primary cesarean section rates 3. Explain physiology and principles of the gentle cesarean technique 4. Identify current evidence-based recommendations for breastfeeding the substance exposed newborn 5.
