2 Position Purpose: OBJECTIVES OF THE FAPMI PROGRAM Increase the capacity of Mercy Mental Health (MMH) to provide a family inclusive (considering the needs of all family members) response to the parenting needs of consumers and the needs of their children. Increase the capacity of MMH network partners (such as family violence services, drug and alcohol services, services to aboriginal communities, housing services, child protection, youth and family services, maternity, infant and early childhood services, primary care and education) to recognise and respond appropriately to parental mental illness. Establish and strengthen service networks in partnership with consumers and carers to provide a coordinated and collaborative response to the needs of families where a parent has a mental illness. POSITION SUMMARY The overall role of the FaPMI co-ordinator is to co-ordinate service development within MMH and across the catchment to build capacity of services to respond effectively to these families. They will do this through workforce training and resource development, policy and procedure development, partnerships between sectors and services, group program development, implementation and evaluation, and community education. REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS The MMH FaPMI coordinator will receive line management and day to day project supervisory support from the Recovery Services Manager. The position will also receive regular professional supervision. The MMH FaPMI coordinators is required to work in collaboration with other FaPMI coordinators on state-wide activities through meetings and task focussed project/work groups under the direction of the State-wide coordinator. Annual activity reports are sent to the FaPMI State-wide Coordinator and consolidated for analysis.

3 Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS The successful applicant (as set out by the Dept. Guidelines) will have one of the following qualifications: Registration with AHPRA as a Registered Nurse with successful completion of a specialist undergraduate psychiatric nursing program or a Post graduate Psychiatric/mental health nursing qualification or An approved degree in Psychology and registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist with endorsement as a Clinical Psychologist or An approved degree in Occupational Therapy and registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist or An approved degree in Social Work and eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers In addition: A current Victorian Driver s License and ability to drive a work vehicle Holds current working with children check and clear police check. Resource management: Desirable: Further study in the relevant specialist areas. Ability to converse in a language other than English Demonstrated clinical competency in mental status and risk assessment and the ability to prioritize workload and coordinate clinical care with other services providers. Ability to problem-solve, consult, liaise and negotiate with clients, family members, carers and other professionals. Ability to provide recovery focused clinical services and experience in working with adults who are parents who have experienced mental illness, and their families and an understanding of the developmental An understanding of a variety of theoretical approaches and the ability to implement various therapeutic techniques from different treatment modalities and a good understanding of the range of diagnostic categories of mental disorders. Knowledge of the ethical and legal systems under which mental health care is delivered. Knowledge and experience in providing individual counselling to clients with specificexperience in, and knowledge of, the adult, child and adolescent mental health field and associated health and welfare services The ability to provide discipline specific advice on the clinical management of clients with a variety of diagnostic presentations Significant experience in providing consultation to a range of service providers Experience and training with research design and statistical analysis Excellent presentation and public speaking skills and the ability to design and deliver professional development activities and training to a range of occupational groups and organisations

Develop strong relationships with key stakeholders in the region who work with children, youth and families and in contributing to the professional development needs of these service providers. Develop working relationships and formal local Agreements/Memorandum of Understanding which clearly articulates the relationship between key stakeholders and network partners in the region, as described in the FaPMI Program Guidelines.

Consultation and support Facilitate avenues for consultation and support for AMHS clinicians and network partners Facilitate referral pathways across mental health and network partners Inter Organisation Partnership Enhancement Develop new and/ or enhance existing partnerships between sectors and services, including with indigenous and CALD communities, to support the work of the FaPMI program in the region. Advocate for and support endeavours to provide programs for parents with a mental illness and for their children and adolescents using allocated brokerage funds. Work together with other regional FaPMI Coordinators in state-wide working groups, the FaPMI State-wide Coordinator and The Bouverie Centre which is the coordinating body for The FaPMI Program. Work in partnership with relevant organisations who advocate for consumer and carer participation and with key consumer and carer representatives.

Ensures that all relevant work is documented as contacts for the CMI/RAPID statewide database, outcome measures are collected and entered into database. Operational and service development Adhere to and comply with relevant legislation i.e. Mental Health Act 2014 and the Children, Youth and Families Act 2005 and the Child Wellbeing and Safety Act 2005 Routinely records all assessments and client interventions in the appropriate and timely manner in the client file. Reviews plans and treatment within agreed timeframes at clinical team meetings. Ensures that termination of interventions and outcome is appropriately documented. Understands what constitutes contacts and how to enter relevant data into CMI/RAPID. Documents all relevant contacts in a timely manner, enters contacts to CMI/RAPID. Outcome measures data collection and entry completed as required. Provide knowledge and skills as part of a multidisciplinary team, and consult with other staff on FaPMI matters. Work collaboratively with clinical teams, other service components, non-government organizations, GP s, private psychiatrists and relevant others in the provision of quality care for clients. Attend all meetings as required Participate in service planning, development and review, policy formulation, quality and research activities as required Contribute to a state-wide FaPMI Program with other Regional FaPMI Coordinators under the direction of the State-wide FaPMI Co-ordinator. Participate in continuous quality improvement through the ongoing monitoring Client assessments, treatment plans and clinical interventions and reviews are recorded appropriately in the client file in the relevant form and updated according to agreed timelines. All RAPID contacts are documented / entered in a timely manner. All Outcome Measures are entered as specified by team protocol. Attends regular Clinical Team Reviews across the community mental health teams and ad hoc across the Acute Services Participates in MMH committees as negotiated and required e.g. High Risk Panel Participates in case conferences and assessments as required on a referral basis across the whole of service Participates in MMH Accreditation and Standards that are identified and relate to this role e.g. National Standard 2.
