SPECIALTY SERVICES AT A GLANCE radiation oncology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, patient navigation, calming therapies with art and music, genetic testing, survivorship programs and nutritional counseling. Through a clinical research affiliation with the University of Florida, patients are offered cutting-edge clinical trials. The award-winning Noreen Salah Burpee Adult Infusion Center features aesthetic elements that give patients an increased sense of control over their treatment. Behavioral Health Behavioral health services include world-class psychiatric assessment, innovative and effective quality care for a full range of emotional and behavioral health disorders. The department is a leader in psychiatric specialty care with two inpatient units and a dedicated psychiatric emergency department. Cardiovascular Care Providing a comprehensive approach to the prevention, detection, and treatment of cardiac disease with services including angioplasty, cardiac catheterization, cardiac ultrasound, EKG testing, pacemaker and defibrillator insertions, stress tests, and vascular access services including PICC line, midline, and extended dwell IV placement. Broward Health Medical Center is committed to staying at the forefront of sophisticated cardiovascular treatments that offer access to the latest technology and provide hope to those suffering from cardiovascular disease. Comprehensive Cancer Center The Comprehensive Cancer Center is a Quality Oncology Practice Initiative (QOPI ) Certified site, offering multidisciplinary patient and family-centered care to patients of all ages with services including Emergency Services Staffed by board-certified/board-qualified emergency medicine physicians, nurses and support staff, our 24-hour emergency department offers a specialized pediatric emergency wing, as well as a fast-track program for less-critical patients providing evaluation and treatment in 90 minutes or less. Home Health and Hospice For patients seeking care in the comfort of their own homes, we provide a full range of services including IV/infusion therapy, diabetes management and education, telemonitoring services, pediatric care, wound care, psychiatric nursing care, along with skilled rehabilitation therapy services. 1
2 Specialty Services at a Glance Continued - Imaging Services Accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR), imaging services include interventional radiology, MRI, ultrasound, Computed Technology (CT) scan, nuclear medicine, Positron Emission Tomography (PET) scan, digital mammography with 3D imaging and contrast enhancement and both stereotactic and MRI breast biopsy. The CT/ MRI Imaging Center, a component of the radiology department, offers state-of-the-art technology with low dose radiation and fast scanning capabilities. Advanced imaging available includes cardiac Computed Tomography Angiogram (CTA), brain perfusion, MRI Spectroscopy and perfusion and many other procedures that assist in quick and accurate diagnosis. Many imaging exams can be performed on the same day as ordered. Joint Replacement The Joint Replacement Center is home to a wellestablished multidisciplinary team of professionals whose specialized training helps ensure patients undergoing joint replacement receive high quality care with services including hip and knee replacements and partial knee replacements with minimally invasive options. Lillian S. Wells Women s Health Center The Lillian S. Wells Women s Health Center is designated by the American College of Radiology (ACR) as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence offering early detection services such as 3D Mammography Tomosynthesis Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography performed in environmentally enhanced SensorySuites. Maternity Care The perfect place to celebrate the birth of your baby, our specialized maternity unit includes 13 private labor and delivery suites, 36 private postpartum suites with luxurious shower facilities and full-size beds with pillow-top mattresses for dad or partner and three deluxe Empress Suites with extra spacious family areas. The Maternity Place combines the luxurious amenities of a hotel with the comfort of home while providing exceptional care for the entire family. Palliative Care The Palliative Care Program is dedicated to the physical comfort and emotional and spiritual support of pediatric and adult patients with advanced illness regardless of diagnosis, prognosis, other treatments or resuscitation wishes. Sleep Disorders Fully accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, the Sleep Disorders Center offers physician evaluations, state-of-the-art diagnostic testing and treatment for both pediatric (ages 1 year and older) and adult sleep-related disorders. Stroke Treatment Recognized as a Comprehensive Stroke Center by the Agency for Health Care Administration, the stroke center has been awarded the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association s Get with the Guidelines Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award since 2011, and the Target Stroke Honor Roll Award since 2015 for our commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of stroke care. Transplant Services The Adult Liver Transplant Program, led by a multidisciplinary team of experts, boasts transplant recipient survival rates higher than those of the national average. The program is also dedicated to the care of patients living with liver cancer, and offers such services as radiofrequency ablation, trans-arterial chemoembolization and laparoscopic liver resection. Trauma Center Level I One of only five Level I trauma centers in South Florida, our 24-hour, state-accredited trauma center is fully equipped with the latest technology to care for traumatic injuries in both children and adults. Wellness Center The Wellness Center is a 10,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art fitness facility staffed by professionals certified by the American College of Sports Medicine and the National Strength and Conditioning Association offering a variety of group exercise classes, ongoing health lectures and tobacco cessation programs. 2

In 1996, pediatric services were enhanced and a full service Children s Hospital was established committed to offering newborns, children and adolescents the most advanced, family-centered care. Today, the newly renovated and expanded Salah Foundation Children s Hospital, recognized by the Florida Association of Children s Hospitals and by the Children's Hospital Association, offers the full spectrum of pediatric specialty services and is dedicated to serving the individual needs of children and their families. SPECIALTY SERVICES AT A GLANCE 24-Hour Pediatric Emergency Department and Speedy Care Children are different than adults and the Salah Foundation Children s Hospital offers a separate emergency area for children, with specially trained emergency physicians. For a minor injuries, Speedy Care, is available 24/7 to expedite treatment of minor emergencies. Child Life The Child Life Program offers pediatric patients with humor, pet-assisted, music and art therapies to help reduce anxiety and stress, and stimulate the mind and body. Comprehensive Pediatric Diabetes The Comprehensive Pediatric Diabetes Center provides a precise and individualized diabetes treatment plan developed by our team of endocrinologists, diabetes educators, nutritionists and psychologists to help children and their parents successfully manage the complexities of diabetes care and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Hematology Oncology As one of the largest pediatric hematology/ oncology programs in South Florida dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of children and adolescents with all types of cancer and blood disorders, we offer individualized inpatient and outpatient care and infusion services in a childcentric, healing environment. Multidisciplinary Pediatric Obesity The Multidisciplinary Pediatric Obesity Clinic is an outpatient clinic offering patients with an individualized treatment program developed by an expert team of pediatric gastroenterologists, pediatric endocrinologists, dietitians and psychologists. Neonatal Intensive Care Unit Level III The Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit is a 70-bed facility equipped with state-of-the-art technology offering the highest level of care for neonatal diagnosis, surgery and rehabilitation led by boardcertified neonatologists, advanced nurse practitioners, specialized neonatal ICU nurses and pediatric specialists. It is a designated Level III Regional Perinatal Intensive Care Center (RPICC) for excellence in standard of care and one of only 11 RPICC sites in the state of Florida. 3
4 Specialty Services at a Glance Continued - Pediatric Acute Care and Pediatric Medical/Surgical Treatment An experienced team of board-certified pediatric specialists and specially trained nurses offers the full spectrum of pediatric care, dedicated to serving the individual needs of children and their families. Each pediatric unit includes private state-of-the-art treatment rooms, featuring a private restroom with full shower and couches with trundle mattresses to accommodate additional visitors, and a nutrition pantry open to families so they can feel at home while they are away from their own home. Pediatric Intensive Care Unit - Level I The Level I Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at Salah Foundation Children s Hospital offers state-ofthe art technology ensuring the highest level of care for pediatric patients led by board-certified pediatric intensivists, specialized PICU nurses and pediatric subspecialists. The unit includes 12 newly designed patient rooms, large enough to accommodate two adults in each room. Pediatric Residency Program The Pediatric Residency Program accepts eight pediatric residents each year for three years, for a total of 24 pediatric residents. We are affiliated with three medical schools, including Florida International University as our allopathic-sponsoring university and Nova Southeastern University as our osteopathic-sponsoring university. In addition, we are the core pediatric training site for the University of Miami MD/MPH 3rd year cohort clerkship program. Our Pediatric Residency Program was the first in the country to make the transition from American Osteopathic Association accreditation to Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education accreditation under the Single Accreditation System. Pediatric Sedation Our dedicated Pediatric Sedation team is dedicated to providing the safest sedation techniques customized to the individual needs of each child.
