2 Message FROM THE DIRECTOR Bonners Ferry Boundary Sandpoint Bonner This year, Panhandle Health District is celebrating 46 years of providing public health services! From no-cost cancer screenings to community water management, our services and programs have protected people from disease and fostered access to a clean environment. A lot has changed in the last 46 years in North Idaho. Our community is growing and facing new health challenges, including an aging population and an increasing demand for mental health services. In 2018, we will continue monitoring local health concerns and strive for greater health outcomes. We are focusing on three specific goals for 2018: to positively impact population health, to steward collaboration with community partners and to ensure organizational efficiency and capability. Our team of 115+ professionals serving 5 different counties are committed to delivering innovative and high quality public health services to all. In partnership with community members, leaders and organizations, we will continue northern Idaho s legacy of being the premier place to live, work and play. Sincerely, Kootenai Benewah Coeur d Alene Kellogg St. Maries Shoshone Panhandle Health District s activities include direct medical services for immunizations, sexually transmitted diseases, women s health and basic health care; disease surveillance and outbreak control; environmental health protection and inspections; emergency preparedness and response; and initiatives to prevent chronic disease and injury.
