Registration available at under upcoming events The Southern NH AHEC Nursing Quest Summer Camp For Boys and Girls ages For rising 7 th and 8 th grade boys and girls Who should go to camp? If you are entering or leaving the 8 th grade and think you might be interested in exploring a career in nursing, you will benefit from the camp. CAMP DATES: Nashua Community College **July 30 to August 3, 2018** 8:30am-3:30pm What will I be doing at camp? Wear Scrubs-We give them to you! Become certified in CPR Learn about different nursing careers in various settings Go on field trips to different healthcare organizations Measure vital signs- Blood pressure, temperature, and pulse rate For rising 9 th and 10 th grade boys and girls CAMP DATES: Manchester Community College: **July 30 to August 3, 2018** 8:30am-3:30pm Who should go to camp? 4 Foundational Training in Trauma-Informed Care Thursday, August 2, 2018 Alnoba 24 Cottage Road Kensington, NH :30 am -3:30 pm The growing awareness of the pervasiveness and effect of trauma physiologically & psychologically on individuals as well as on relationships and communities has led to the development of both trauma-informed and trauma-specific services. Human service systems such as healthcare, justice, and schools become trauma-informed by helping staff to: 1) realize both the prevalence of adverse experiences and the specific neurobiological mechanisms of recovery and resilience, 2) recognize the indications of trauma in clients and systems and avoid re-traumatizing or pathologizing these signs of distress, and 3) apply this knowledge to practice by making changes to procedures and policies. Target Audience: This workshop is an advanced professional development opportunity for professionals seeking to become trauma competent and to develop trauma-informed systems of care in their own agencies/organizations. 5 Faculty Cassie Yackley, Psy.D., P.L.L.C. Dr. Cassie Yackley has spent more than 25 years addressing the impact of adverse childhood experiences on families through psychological practice and research, including extensive work with families involved with Child Protection and Juvenile Justice services. Dr. Yackley is a nationally-certified trainer in Child-Parent Psychotherapy and is preparing mental health therapists across the state to deliver this evidence-based practice for traumatized young children. Her recent projects include: Partners for Change with NH DCYF, Trauma-Informed Early Childhood Services with the NH Department of Maternal and Child Health, Project GROW with the NH DOE Office of Student Wellness, and Connecting Young Children and their Caregivers to Care (CYCCC) with the Manchester Police Department s ACEs Response Teams all of which work to build trauma-informed systems of care in New Hampshire. 9 Stanford s Chronic Disease Self-Management Program: Better Choices, Better Health Do you have patients with a chronic disease? Are you looking for resources to help them take better care of themselves? The NH CDSMP Network is offering Stanford s Chronic Disease Self-Management Program: Better Choices, Better Health as a resource to providers and residents of New Hampshire. The program gives patients with chronic diseases and the people who care for them an opportunity to learn how to put life back into their lives.
