5 HERC Mission Higher Education Recruitment Consortia (HERC) members include colleges, universities, teaching hospitals, research laboratories, and government agencies that collaborate on recruiting and retaining the most outstanding and diverse faculty, staff, and administrators and assisting dual-career couples.

18 Dual-career: Regional & National Jobs Websites & Search Technology HERC is the only entity to offer regional higher education jobs websites for faculty, staff, and administrative job postings. HERC members post all of their open positions on the regional HERC website making it the most comprehensive source for dual-career spouses and partners searching for jobs within commutable distance of the primary hire. The National HERC website, is the largest nonprofit higher education jobs database in the world with over 17,000 jobs posted at any given time + dual-search technology, making it an indispensible resource for dual-career couples who are jointly on the job market.

19 Dual-career: Outside the Academy HERC recently received funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to develop a model for meeting the needs of non-academic spouses. Research indicates 72% of faculty members have employed partners. Of those, equal numbers seek academic and non-academic employment. The goal of the Outside the Academy Employment Initiative is to partner with government, health care and corporate employers that share HERC s values to increase the # of job opportunities for the spouses and partners HERC members seek to recruit. Outside the Academy will be pioneered by Washington State HERC and the model will be shared with other HERCs that can opt in or out according to regional preference.

36 Cost of Membership The North Texas and South Central Gulf Texas HERCs are non-profit organizations. Annual membership dues are set by their Advisory Boards and are tiered to make it affordable for campuses of varying sizes. Dues cover the HERC s core budget, a share of the National HERC s budget, and allow individual HERC to invest in the mission-driven activities that bring your institution a continued return on investment.

37 Cost of Membership HERC keeps it simple and membership is all inclusive. Your dues payment covers every service available through HERC and entitle several institutional representatives to attend member conferences and unlimited participants to take advantage of HERC webinars and discounts.
