2 Overview Udaan: Udaan, e Special Industry Initiative (SII) for J&K is funded by Ministry of Home Affairs and implemented by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The programme is a part of e overall initiative for addressing economic issues in J&K. The aim is to provide skills and job opportunities to e you. Simultaneously, e aim is also to provide exposure to corporate India towards e rich talent pool available in J&K. The target was to reach out to 40,000 you in J&K over a period of 5 years. The Udaan programme is designed to encourage corporates to travel to J&K meet wi e you and hire aspiring you in J&K who wish to explore e opportunity to work wi corporates. Udaan provides a framework of support to e you to travel, undergo training in firms and transit to work. Udaan has two objectives : To provide exposure to e graduates and post graduates of Jammu and Kashmir to e best of corporate India and To provide corporate India wi exposure to e rich talent pool available in e state What's inside... 4 Recruitment Drives in Jammu and Kashmir September to November 2016 In line wi e Skill India Movement, e National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) along wi Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and e state government of Jammu and Kashmir, conducted 92(*till April) mega recruitment drives in J&K to boost e Udaan project, a special initiative to address e needs of educated and unemployed you of e region. The companies attending ese mega drives are from diverse range of industry sectors including banking, finance, hospitality, education, IT/ITES and security. Some of India s largest corporates including Accenture, Mount Talent Consulting, MBD Group, Safexpress etc. are keenly interested in participating upcoming drives. These recruitment drives are highly interactive and beneficial to e you of J&K and consist of multiple, well-reputed corporates and multinationals coming togeer and offering various training programs and jobs. The mega drives are aimed at graduates, post graduates and ree-year diploma engineers, who require skill training to become job ready and employable as per industry standards. Over e past mons we have evolved across e skilling value chain in terms of Mobilization of quality candidates, Counselling of selected students, Customized quality training by experienced trainers, Training on Interview Skills and finally providing employment. Our aim is to provide a career to e students instead of just providing skilling and employment. We erefore start counselling and career mapping of e students right from e beginning of e training to assess and map eir employability, interest and aspirations Out of e total number of students selected for e training program during e Udaan Drive, 50 % joined e training program and 60% have joined e offered location.
