6 What is the NLX? A partnership between NASWA & DirectEmployers Association. The mission of the National Labor Exchange (NLX) is to provide the nation s most efficient web-based labor exchange system, through a unique public private partnership, at no additional cost to state workforce agencies and their customers. The NLX directly connects workers and employers by providing job openings refreshed daily from corporate websites and state job banks. Job openings are delivered to well over 16 million job seekers through state job banks, government portals, and.jobs domains. In addition to job openings, the NLX offers state workforce agencies other valuable technology services such indexing, analytics,.jobs microsites and job bank hosting, at no cost. The NLX provides DirectEmployers members, as well as other smaller federal contractors, compliance with federal regulations.

9 Factors Leading to the Development of the NLX: Public Sector Began as a response to the U.S. Department of Labor s discontinuation of America s Job Bank (AJB). AJB was a national job bank maintained by USDOL, connecting jobseekers with job openings. In 2007, NASWA through a formal process endorses DirectEmployers service and state agencies begin to sign participation agreements. Allows the workforce development system to: Offer jobseekers quicker access to more jobs; Provide employers valuable recruitment and compliance services; Better facilitate priority of service; Collect better real-time demand data.
