3 INDEX FOR JANUARY 2019 The Naukri JobSpeak Index for January 2019 at (2,251), marked a 15% increase in hiring activity from January 2018 (1,951). In the month of January 2019, IT-Software industry noted a significant rise in the hiring activity, growing by 36% in comparison to January Also, Auto/Auto Ancillary industry saw an increase in hiring with a growth rate of 17%. Hiring in IT-Software and HR functional area recorded a year-on-year rise of 35% and 30% respectively. Hiring in Bangalore was up by 27%; likewise, Mumbai was up by 10% and Delhi NCR by 8%. Commenting on the report, Ms. Sumeet Singh, CMO, Infoedge India Ltd. said, Beginning the new year with a robust growth in hiring activity looks encouraging. The rise in recruitment for January has been notable across sectors such as IT, Auto and FMCG. The functional areas such as HR, IT - Hardware, and Sales/BD also have observed a rise in recruitment and this trend is likely to continue in the upcoming months. 7 CITY BASED HIRING SCENARIO City Wise Analysis Demand for talent grew across metropolitan cities. Some of the emerging trends observed in the cities are elaborated below - 8% Distribution of Jobs across Roles Delhi/NCR: Overall hiring activity for the capital city grew by 8%. The industries which dominated the hiring space for the city were - Banking/Financial Services (33%), IT-Hardware (39%) and BPO (21%). The experience band that witnessed maximum hiring activity was between 4 to 7 years with a growth rate of 17% Chennai: The city witnessed a rise in recruitment activity of 24%. The rise in hiring was observed in industries such as BFSI (37%), Auto (36%), IT- Software (45%) and BPO (17%). The experience band of 4-7 years experienced a notable rise in hiring activity which was up by 32% Mumbai Delhi / NCR 10% 22% 18% Pune Hyderabad 27% 24% 23% Kolkata Mumbai: Hiring activity for the city increased by 10%. Industries that observed a robust rise in hiring were IT-Software (30%) and FMCG (30%). The experience band of 8 to 12 years recorded a 16% increase in hiring activity in the city Bengaluru Chennai Hyderabad: Recruitment activity grew by 18% for Hyderabad in January 2019 vs January Industries which registered an increase in job creation were FMCG (10%), and BPO (14%) sectors. The Naukri JobSpeak is a monthly Index which calculates and records hiring activity based on the job listings on Naukri.com website month on month. The objective of Naukri JobSpeak is to measure the hiring activities in various industries and the data is compiled of companies which are registered on the platform and reflects gross hiring (includes replacement hiring). July 2008 is taken to be the base with a score of 1,000 and the subsequent monthly index is compared with the data for July The jobs analyzed for the monthly Index are qualified on the basis of white collar, urban, belonging to organized corporate sector jobs with a main focus on service industries. The report shows hiring trends across industry sectors, geography, experience level and functional areas. More than 76,000 national and international clients use Naukri.com, leading to high reliability of data. The report does not cover gig employment, hyperlocal hiring or campus placement.
