1 Online hiring in the Philippines sees an annual surge of % The Philippines witnessed an % year-on-year annual boost in online recruitment activity in y 20, according to the latest Monster Employment Index (MEI). The highest performing industry was Retail at 39% annual growth, while BPO/ITES failed to impress with a 3% year-on-year decline. In terms of job roles, professionals in the Purchase/ Logistics/ Supply Chain industry saw the highest demand at 37%. Least in demand were professionals from the Customer Service sector, owing to a 9% annual decline. MANILA, 19 September 20 - Overall online hiring sentiment in the Philippines registered a positive % year-on-year growth between y 20 and 20, according to findings from the Monster Employment Index (MEI). y proved to be a good month for several industries in the Philippines, namely Retail (39%), Health Care (33%) and Logistics (31%). The BFSI and Hospitality industries also enjoyed double-digit growth to the tune of 19% and % respectively, for the month of y. Albeit not on par with other industries in the Philippines, the Consumer Goods, Production and Engineering industries all amassed annual growth figures to the tune of 13%, 10% and 10% respectively for the month of y. BPO/ITES was the only industry in the Philippines to experience a decline of 3% in y. The Monster Employment Index (MEI) is a gauge of online job posting activities compiled monthly by Monster.com. It records the industries and occupations that show the highest and lowest growth in recruitment activity locally.

2 Overall online hiring is flourishing in the Philippines, as confirmed by the positive annual growths recorded by several job roles monitored. The Purchase/ Logistics/ Supply Chain occupation commanded the most demand with a whopping 37% annual growth for the month of y. Coming in at a close second are the occupational groups of HR & Admin and Sales and Business Development, commanding 32% and 31% positive year-on-year growth during y. In line with favourable developments in the industry, the Health Care and Finance and Accounts sectors displayed corresponding positive year-on-year growth of 29% and 28% respectively. However, Engineering/Production, Real Estate and Customer Service professionals found that their skills were not in high demand, owing to a meagre 9 percent growth and 9 percent in the two sectors, respectively. Retail and Healthcare have been some of the top performing industries for y, as both have undergone technological upgrades in terms of accessibility and varied formats. Supply chain and human resources roles are in demand as these occupations form the backbone of the Philippine economy, said Abhijeet Mukherjee, CEO of Monster.com APAC and Middle East. Only the BPO/ITES industry did not seem to make a mark, but can definitely be expected to improve in the coming months. Overall, most industries and sectors have been performing well in terms of expansion and demand for talent. This can be owed to the ambitious economy-building programs being undertaken by the government.
