5 What are the graduation requirements? Earn 230 credits in specific subject areas At this time, it is no longer a requirement to pass the California High School Exit Exam (CAHSEE) as the state of California has currently suspended the test. We are waiting for the state to make a final decision.

Summer School TUSD Adult School Two 3-week sessions are offered Can remediate D s and F s Only minimum graduation courses available, no Lab Sciences, Foreign Languages or honors/ap courses Credits are not A - G approved Only for Juniors and Seniors PLATO Online independent recovery course currently offered during zero and 7th period Courses not available: lab courses, foreign languages, Honors/AP Credits are A - G approved Seniors have first priority

(Not an admission guarantee to your UC of choice)

11 Community College Two year public local schools that provides the first two years of general education requirements, certificate programs, or associate s degrees As a transfer student from the community college, the CSU/UC campuses give priority admission Students can earn a specific certificate or an associate degree in a specialized field and enter the workforce immediately Economic option for students as the average cost of community college is less than half the cost of a public 4 year universities and about one-tenth the cost of private institutions Students are NOT required to take any college entrance exams

12 Financial Aid What is Financial Aid? Financial assistance that covers educational expenses including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and transportation What types of financial aid are available? The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is the form used by the U.S. Dept. of Ed. to determine your Expected Family Contribution (EFC) by conducting a need analysis based on financial information given by your family. Apply online starting October 1, March 2, 2017 Student must have Social Security Number Loans are required to be paid back after graduation

13 Financial Aid Cal Grant is a financial aid program administered by the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) providing aid to students attending a California college or vocational school Eligibility is based on minimum GPA and need Students do NOT have to pay back Must complete the FAFSA before submitting Cal Grant online Due March 2, 2017 A scholarship is financial aid given to students because for various reasons such merit, athletic ability, following a particular career, or has some special ethnic or other characteristic.
