Today, communities around the nation have embraced the day as part of their holiday shopping tradition. The increased awareness translated to the highest-performing Small Business Saturday campaign yet and the groundswell of participation made 2016 the most successful year to date. 16 HOW TO BECOME A NEIGHBORHOOD CHAMPION Apply to become a Neighborhood Champion by Nov 6 by committing to plan an event to rally your community for Nov 25. American Express reviews your application and will notify you within 1 2 weeks if it has been approved. As an approved Neighborhood Champion, you will receive an Event Kit* containing Shop Small merchandise to support your event. *While supplies last. Note: American Express will receive applications starting May 18, 2016 up until November 11, Apply by November

That sample was collected using an invitation and an online survey. The 2014 survey was conducted anonymously by independent marketing performance specialist Ebiquity on November 30, 2014, and has an overall margin of error of +/- 1.9%, at the 95% level of confidence.
