Together we are able to offer federal procurement, counseling services, access to capital, and business education. The Small Business Development Center, commonly known as the SBDC, provides no-cost expert guidance to many of our state s small to help propel that success. Two quotes from nearly 100 years ago aptly sum up the important SBDC and small business synergy taking place today. Thomas Watson Sr., founder of IBM, famously said, To be successful, you have to have your heart in your business, and your business in your heart. Our 80-person team of SBDC experts spreads across every corner of the state, residing at great regional hosts in all of s 10 Prosperity s. Each and every day, SBDC counselors are bringing their heart and passion to the task of guiding business clients in areas such as business planning, market research, export assistance, financial analysis, and more. Why is this assistance so important? James Cash Penney, founder of JC Penney, observed a fundamental business dynamic long ago: Growth is never by mere chance, it is the result of forces working together. The SBDC, often in close collaboration with many of our state s other strong economic development partners, extends a hand so that have a voice of experience and common ally in their growth. The work is invigorating, and the success stories stunning. New spring up where none existed before, and long established find new trajectories with SBDC assistance, touching lives and communities. We achieved all of our 2015 goals and reached out in new ways as well, from small business cyber security to economic inclusion. Teamwork pays. We are pleased to have the support of such great stakeholders: the Small Business Administration, n, the State of, the Economic Development Center, Grand Valley State University as our State Lead Center host, and all of our committed regional hosts listed on the cover. Together, we make a meaningful difference to the small of, helping those who pour their hearts into their based grow to new heights of - success!
