3 Question 1: How much does it cost to use REDCap for my research? There are two usage models available for the NHG-REDCap system. (1) Self-Managed Projects There is no cost to the Project Owner (Overall Study PI). Owners are responsible for their REDCap Project s Design, Form creation and managing User access to their Project. (2) Full-Assistance Projects There will be a cost incurred as the REDCap Project will be designed and created by a Project-Analyst based on Project Owner s requirements. The Project Cost will depend on the Project s complexity and requirements. Before the Project is initiated, the Project cost will be made known to the Project Owner, and approval must be obtained from the Project Owner s Institution Representative / Director of Research. The Project Cost will then be charged to the Project Owner s Institution.

4 Question 2: What is the difference between Self-Managed Projects and Full-Assistance Projects? Self Managed Projects No Cost to Project Owner* * This does not refer to the Maintenance Cost of REDCap Platform which will be shared among NHG Institutions. Full Access to REDCap capabilities. Project Owner / Study Team responsible for creating and managing REDCap Project themselves. Self-Taught via Videos, Guides and Training Sessions. General Help available for troubleshooting any system problems. Ethics Approval required before start. Quarterly Reports to Institution Representatives / Director of Research. Cost to Researcher REDCap Access Project Design Learning Oversight Full Assistance Projects Cost determined by Project s complexity and requirements (at $70/Man-hr). Approval required from Inst. Rep / DOR Project Cost payable by Project Owner s Institution. Full Access to REDCap capabilities. REDCap Project will be designed and created by RDO Project-Analyst based on requirements. Study Team expected to know REDCap basics via self-learning etc. Additional Project-specific Training may be provided to facilitate hand-over to Project Owner/Study Team. Ethics Approval required before start. Quarterly Reports to Institution Representatives / Director of Research.

5 Question 3: Can I use REDCap for Projects that are not related to Research? The NHG REDCap system is intended for use in research activities as defined and regulated by the NHG-Domain Specific Review Boards (DSRB). All Project Requests must demonstrate that they have obtained the relevant research ethics & regulatory approval before any REDCap Project is approved. The NHG REDCap system CANNOT BE USED as a primary system for supporting: Clinical operations or providing Patient services. Mission-critical operations or services. The NHG REDCap system NOT TO BE USED as the basis for providing a contract or other services to any entity.

6 Question 4: Who can use the NHG REDCap System? Can External Parties / Non-Staff use REDCap? The NHG REDCap system can only be used by NHG Staff * with a valid NHG ADID (Active Directory ID). Due to data security concerns, External Parties / Non-Staff personnel cannot be given access to the NHG REDCap system. *This includes Staff from all NHG Institutions. (TTSH, IMH, NHG Polyclinics, NSC, NHG College, NHG Diagnostics, NHG Pharmacy, Primary Care Academy, Johns Hopkins Singapore International Medical Centre)

7 Question 5: How can I learn how to use REDCap? The easiest way to start learning REDCap, is to watch the official REDCap Training videos. If you are new to REDCap, we highly recommend that you take some time to watch these videos. These short videos, each between 5 10 mins, will help you to learn the basics of the REDCap system and provide a general overview for some of REDCap s preliminary concepts and features. There are also many other REDCap training videos available on YouTube. These videos cover in more detail the various REDCap functions and topics. Simply search REDCap on YouTube. We will also be conducting short introductory sessions for REDCap. You can look out for these REDCap Introductory sessions at the NHG research website.

8 Question 6: Is the NHG REDCap system accessible from the Internet? Can I use NHG REDCap outside of the NHG network? Due to data security concerns, the NHG REDCap system is only accessible via the NHG Intranet. The NHG REDCap system will not be available outside of the NHG Intranet.

9 Question 7: I have existing Study data that I want to import into REDCap? Is this possible? The short answer is yes, you can import data into REDCap. REDCap has a Data Import Tool which may be used for importing data from a CSV (comma delimited) file. The longer answer is that while REDCap has the Tool that will let you import existing data, there is some preparation work to be done. You will need to ensure that the your data matches the variables as created in the Data collection instruments in REDCap. You may refer to this YouTube video for a more detailed explanation on how the REDCap Data Import Tool works. Import Data into Redcap:

10 Question 8: How do I apply for a REDCap Project? Simply complete a 1-page Project Request Form available here and send it to us via (redcap@nhg.com.sg). Remember to read the REDCap System Usage Agreement carefully. The Project Request Form and Usage Agreement are available on our website here. Once your Project Request has been approved, we will contact you via with the details on how to access your REDCap Project. The Application workflows are shown on the next 2 slides.

(B) Project Feasibility Meeting Understand General scope of Project Requirements Assess complexity of Project Review estimated Project Timeline May be conducted over more than 1 meeting. (C) Project Scope & Proposal Signoff Proposed scope of work and Manhours required. Estimated Project Cost Acceptance of Project by Institution Representative / Director of Research and Project Owner
