Every two years, the Canada China Business Council presents Canada China Business Excellence Awards to recognize businesses that have played an innovative and leadership role in expanding and

1 Every two years, the Canada China Business Council presents Canada China Business Excellence Awards to recognize businesses that have played an innovative and leadership role in expanding and nurturing bilateral business relationships. The awards will be presented at CCBC s Fall Annual General Meeting (location and timing TBD), attended by key business executives and senior government and business leaders. Nomination Guide You may nominate more than one company and/or nominate a company in more than one category. Please use separate nomination sheets for each nomination. We also accept selfnomination. Eligibility: All nominees business must be either registered in Canada or in China. The nominator or his/her business must not be the subject of any legal investigation. A nominee or his/her business must not be the subject of any legal investigation. Submissions containing false information will be automatically disqualified. Nomination Procedure: A candidate must complete the Nomination Form and return it to CCBC s Toronto Office by Friday, October 12, We will not accept electronic or faxed submissions. Please ensure to send us six copies of your nomination documents so that we can forward them to each of our judges. CCBC will not be responsible for photocopying your file. Any information received will be kept in strict confidence. Documentation submitted, including financial information, will not be returned. Finalists will be notified in advance. Finalists may be required to submit additional information for further consideration and clarification. Winners will be announced at the Council s AGM Banquet, tentatively scheduled for November The decision of the Judging Panel and the CCBC Executive Board is final. 2 Award Categories: CCBC Business Excellence Awards I. Outstanding SME Award The award will be given to an enterprise that best exemplifies the innovative inclusion of China in the company's growth and its overall strategies. The successful implementation of such initiative has significantly improved the firm's competitive edge and financial performance. Criteria: Company size: annual gross revenue from $250,000 up to, but no more than $50 million in the last fiscal year. This award category is open to CCBC member and non member small and medium sized enterprises. Executive Summary Why should your company win this award? (In 250 words, doublespaced.) State how your company s innovative China strategies culminate in the success of your company s performance. (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) What were your company s major obstacles and how were they overcome? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) What plans are in place in your firm to sustain the success of your business? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) What plans does your company have to enhance the training, innovation and/or environmental aspects of your company going forward? 3 II. Member of the Year Award This award will be presented to a CCBC member firm that has successful, high profile business initiatives or a special project within the last 24 months. The company undertook bold new ventures resulting in commercial success and clearly distinguished itself from its competitors. Criteria: CCBC members only, open to Chinese and Canadian firms. Executive Summary Why should your company win this award? (In 250 words, doublespaced.) Describe your project/business initiatives in detail. What are the bold elements in the project/business initiatives? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) What were the accomplishments of the project/business initiatives? How did it/they make significant contributions to the firm s growth and business model? How did the project/business initiatives transform your company? (No more than 4 pages, doublespaced.) How did the project/business initiatives differentiate your company from your competitors in the industry? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) How the nominated project/business initiatives may have contributed to the overall development of Canada China commercial relations or to the furtherance of the role of the CCBC in the development of these relations? Education Excellence Award This award will be presented to a CCBC member organization in the education sector (secondary school, college, university or other), that demonstrates outstanding achievement in delivering success including, but not limited to, research partnerships, recruitment, student/faculty exchanges, alumni relations, institution linkages, executive training, and provision of Canadian curricula. Criteria: Open to CCBC member organizations in the education sector. Executive Summary Why should the institution win this award? (In 250 words, doublespaced.) State the key elements of the program/project and how the institution has delivered its success. How has your institution demonstrated extraordinary commitment to the success of the project? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) Describe what challenges your institution has encountered and how they were overcome. (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) What results your institution has achieved? How did your institution measure success? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) Describe how your institution has built effective and sustainable international partnerships that help students become global citizens. (No more than 4 pages, doublespaced.) Investment in Canada Award This award will be presented to a CCBC member organization that has demonstrated ingenuity, success, leadership, and commitment in an investment in Canada, contributing to the Canadian economy and to its Chinese parent company s global strategy. Criteria: Open to CCBC member organizations that are Chinese corporations. Executive Summary Why should the company win this award? (In 250 words, doublespaced.) How does this investment fit in with the parent company s overall internationalization goals? What are the company s key short and long term goals for this investment? Describe how the company has implemented its action plans. (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) Describe what challenges your company has encountered and how they were overcome. (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) What are the company s accomplishments? What are the key performance measurements? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) What plans and strategies are in place to sustain the success of your company in Canada? (No more than 4 pages, double spaced.) Describe the company s contributions to the Chinese parent company s global strategy.
