1 About our Nicaragua Project Partner - Gran Pacifica Beach and Golf Resort Gran Pacifica Beach and Golf Resort is a unique Spanish Colonial master planned beach community of beach homes, oceanfront condos, golf-front villas and vacation rentals. Gran Pacifica has 3.5 miles of stunning Pacific oceanfront and is located just 1 hour from Managua City/Airport. The development of Gran Pacifica Beach and Golf Resort has created employment opportunities for the local population. Gran Pacifica and its partners in Nicaragua have employed nearly 500 people over the last six years. They have also created training programs that enable the local community to take full advantage of employment opportunities as they come available. Gran Pacifica Social Responsibility Initiatives Since its inception, Gran Pacifica has partnered with local government, community leaders and nonprofit organizations including Help Them Help Themselves and Beauty from Ashes. Their focus is on health and education issues and as a result of their strategic partnerships, they have spearheaded a variety of successful social projects and fundraising initiatives. They are fully engaged and are active partners in the betterment of the local communities that surround the Gran Pacifica Beach and Golf Resort

2 Gran Pacifica Social Outreach Highlights As part of their commitment to giving back, Gran Pacifica s employees, shareholders, vendors and nonprofit partners have donated money, medical equipment, personal care items, school supplies, food, shoes and clothing. Listed below are some of the highlights from their outreach efforts; - Provided support for Daytime safe house inside the trash dump that provides services to the children of La Chureca - Coordinated in conjunction with Samaritan International, Gran Pacifica donated soya food for the children of the Rafaela Herrera #2 School in March Soya food is an excellent resource for vitamins and protein - Distributed food and personal care items to the prisoners of District 2, Managua prison - Construction of 2 schools - Built a home for a single grandmother (The house was completely made of plastic bottles, trash and Organic Materials excavated from the Community) - Provided building courses to the local community to teach locals how to build a home using recycled and organic methods. - Donated backpacks, school supplies and shoes to every child in the Los Jicaros Community - Donation of Uniforms to women and men s soccer teams of Villa El Carmen - Together with Gran Pacifica s Property Owner s Assoc. Soccer and Baseball fields was installed - Transportation provided for local youth Baseball and Soccer teams - Transportation and feeding of 55 kids to Baseball game in Managua. - Workout program for women in the California Community five days per week. Currently there are 20 women currently active in the program

3 Chairs for Children program provides desks for students Coordinated by Gran Pacifica s Security Manager Robert Price, a Dinner at the Burrito Bandido Restaurant was coordinated for 168 members of the local community. The event was a huge success. Installation of Water Tower brings a much needed resource to local residents

4 In Dec 2014 Gran Pacifica Resort delivered 120 Christmas baskets to the neediest families of the communities of Villa El Carmen (California, San Diego and San Luis) And the good work continues o Since 2012, Gran Pacifica has recycled paper, plastic and paperboard in the main office and have donated it to Los Pipitos, a nonprofit organization that works with disabled children. As of today, they have donated pounds of paper, 151 pounds of paperboard and 28.1 pounds of plastic and we will continue recycling! Non Profit Project Partners

5 Airline Ambassadors International (AAI) is a US based non-profit organization that has been a long term partner with the Affinity Travel Group/Travel to do good. For over 20 years, they have assisted orphans and vulnerable children worldwide by leveraging connections within the airline industry towards humanitarian service. Help them help themselves is a non-profit organization that focuses on providing shelter, healthcare and education for the children of Central America. They believe in helping to provide an environment in which kids can be safe, healthy and obtain a proper education so that they can help themselves attain a better future. Beauty for Ashes is an in country Nicaragua based non-profit organization that provides immediate support in the areas of homelessness, hunger relief, medical care and education. HOW CAN YOU GET INVOLVED? HOW CAN YOU TRAVEL TO DO GOOD? Our short term travel to do good volunteer projects could be the perfect way for you to experience the life, culture, history and people of Nicaragua. Individuals and groups volunteer travelers are welcomed and projects and itineraries can be customized. There are a number of ways to get involved with our program partner Gran Pacifica Beach and Golf Resorts. All that is needed is an open mind and an open heart. If you have specific skills to share your professional and technical expertise can be a tremendous asset here. Check out the following Gran Pacifica and Travel to do Good Volunteer Travel Opportunities BRIDGE PROJECT PROJECT PARTNER NEEDED In 2011, Gran Pacifica built a bridge between the towns of Diego and San Bartholo. The bridge made it possible for community members to move from one part of the village to the other. This project was coordinated in coordination with Bridges of the Prosperity, Notre Dame University, Uni University and Rotary Managua Tiscapa Club. The bridge is now in need of much needed maintenance and repairs.

6 TEACH Teach basic conversational English to local students and teachers. Volunteers are also needed to teach other skills including sewing, computer literacy and building trades. CHAIRS FOR CHILDREN DESK PROGRAM YOUR SUPPORT IS NEEDED TO CONTINUE THIS PROJECT In spite of the fact that many students do not have a school desk they are still eager to learn. Your donation gets them off the floor and onto a desk and chair. Volunteers are needed to make a $50 monetary donation to purchase, construct and paint desk for deserving students

7 GARDEN PROJECT GREEN THUMBS WANTED If you like to work in the soil this could be the perfect project for you. Volunteers will work with local students and teachers to plant a vegetable garden at the school. The garden is a sustainable project that is maintained by the teachers and students that promotes nutrition while providing fresh produce for students and teachers for months to come. DO IT IN A DAY As the name suggests, Do it in a Day projects are small community development projects that can transform a space; be it a classroom, a common area or recreational space, etc. into something amazing. Opportunities to volunteer include community clean up, landscaping, painting, room makeover, renovations or light construction projects.

8 DISTRIBUTION OF IN KIND DONATIONS Volunteers are needed to donate, sort and distribute the following; - Medical Supplies - Personal Hygiene Products - Clothing/Shoes - School/Art Supplies - Desktops/Lap Top Computers MEDICAL PERSONNEL and other VOLUNTEERS WHO HAVE A STRONG DESIRE TO SERVE IN THE AREA OF HEALTH AND EDUCATION ARE NEEDED Volunteer with non-profit project partner, Help them help themselves and make a difference STARTLING STATISTICS 1 of every 150 mothers die in childbirth or pregnancy related causes (We can do a lot about this!) COMPARED TO 1 in 4800 in North America 23 of 1,000 infants die within the first year of life. COMPARED TO only 7 of 1,000 in the North America 26% of women give birth without a skilled healthcare professional (doctor, nurse, midwife) COMPARED TO 1% in North America

9 Only 2% of children ages 0-4 receive appropriate antimalarial drugs when needed ** Statistics provided by Help them help themselves Help them help themselves is currently in the process of raising funds for a medical clinic that will serve the local communities that surround Gran Pacifica.
