I came on board September 2014 to begin to build the program. In the first 9 months, I was able to design and implement the following: o Idea Jams - Non-judging space to pitch out ideas and form teams. o Demo Day - Demonstrate why we should be excited about your venture. o ETalks - Entrepreneur speaker series. o HackUMass - 36 hour hardware and software hackathon. o UMass Entrepreneurship Club - Student-run Incubator o Berthiaume Student Innovators - Volunteer base that runs center events and owns campus entrepreneurial culture. o Entrepreneurship Everywhere - Summer High School Entrepreneurship Academy o C4E Services - Connect ventures to mentors and investors, develop relationships with vendors for backend support (tech, legal, accounting, marketing). Academic year implementations: o UMass Innovation Challenge - 3 part pitch competition. o Hult UMass o UMass - 48 hours, idea to launch. o Coleman Fellows Director - Lead non-business faculty in development of niche entrepreneurship curriculum. o Social Entrepreneurship Consortium - Bring social, environmental, and civic faculty together to create social entrepreneurship programming. o More clubs - Social Entrepreneurship Club, Design Club, and UMass. o Accelerator Course - Year-long course that allows/pushes students to take their venture to the next level, meaning launch or to be investor ready; begins Fall o Startup Career Fair - Invite startups to come to campus to show the startup lifestyle and interview students ready to jump in.
