2 INFORMATION REGARDING LOUSIANA PRESS ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION APPLICATIONS Who may apply for a Louisiana Press Association Foundation Fund grant? To be eligible to receive a grant, the applicant must be an owner or publisher in a LPA member newspaper. Any affected newspaper owner or publisher in a parish that has been designated as a primary disaster relief area by the federal government (the IRS or FEMA) is eligible to apply for a grant. The newspaper must have suffered substantial losses or the potential of long-term newspaper interruption or hindrance as a direct result of Hurricanes Katrina or Rita. This grant is designed to provide gap funding for elements that insurance will not cover to assist newspapers' re-entry into the economy. It is not for newspaper owners who are permanently going out of business. Where should you send the completed application? Applications should be completed and mailed to: Louisiana Press Association Foundation 404 Europe St. Baton Rouge, LA Application Processing Applications will be reviewed by an independent committee of newspaper volunteers. Newspaper owners and publishers are asked to verify their application information by supplying an affidavit of authenticity of information. The foundation reserves the right to ask for subsequent verification of information. Notification Applicants will be notified that their applications have been received. There is no need to call LPA regarding that information. Applicants who are under consideration for the awarding of a grant may be contacted for more specific information regarding their application. If that is the case, please respond promptly. LPA will not be able to respond to inquiries about the status of any particular applications during the screening process. Answering Questions on the Application Answer the questions to the best of your ability providing as much factual detail as you think would be helpful to the committee. There will likely be a dollar limitation placed on the amount of grants awarded.
