86 9. VOICE OF STAKEHOLDERS Needs Entrepreneur I am Malathi Suresh, manufacturer and exporter of leather garments and accessories, started our own after having the Rich experience of 15 yrs, working with reputed companies in leather industry.edii training program taught me to be professional and profitable in planning, functions and activities, also I am motivated to do well and handle pressure situations in positive manner. I Had an Excellent skillful experience with EDII. Malathi Suresh, Karambakkam, Buddhar Colony, Porur, Chennai, Tamil Nadu. College IEDP Faculty EDII is a threshold to students and it shows them the right path to develop in to an enterprising entrepreneur. The course offered by EDII kindled the entrepreneurial spirit in student s mind. Dr.R.Maheswari Staff Advisor - EDC Department of Humanities Coimbatore Institute of Technology Mobile number : ID : edc.citcbe14@gmail.com College IEDP Faculty Entrepreneurship Development and Innovation Institute (EDII) Chennai have invited us to attend one orientation programme and one master s training programme. On behalf of our polytechnic College, I have attended the programmes and I have got benefited. They have attached us with the college -Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore for the continuous support and guidance. We have successfully initiated entrepreneurship awareness among the students community. Now, we used to conduct two EAC programmes every year. Dr. M. Senthil Kumar Lecturer PSG Polytechnic College Mobile Number : ID : msk.dtt@psgpolytech.ac.in 86

87 College IEDP Student Entrepreneur EDII is an amazing platform to explore all sorts of entrepreneurial opportunities. They motivate and inspire you to do more. One of the best entrepreneurship workshops I have been to is the E- leadership Workshop. Meeting and interacting with like minded people opens up your mind and helps you explore new opportunities. NEN and EDII have so many wonderful activities and workshops to develop one's leadership qualities and entrepreneurial abilities. NISHA.V IV BE (ECE) Avinashilingam University. College IEDP Student Entrepreneur EDII helped me a lot to transform in to a student entrepreneur with lot of knowledge by means of real time entrepreneurship experience through lot of activities and experiential learning. That made myself to get out of my comfort zone to explore a lot. DharmeshKumar E-Leader AIT-E-Cell Student and Faculty Startup Initiatives I farmer- The Farming robot The main Idea of this innovation is to address the issues of labour shortage, eliminate the health hazards of spraying pesticides and also implement precision farming so as to save Mother Nature and help society. This project was designed and developed at our institution and it took over 1 year to complete by the students. Fortunately, KCT has some facilities for the students to develop the product. However, convincing others to sponsor for this innovation was challenging and almost all the money was spent from the pockets of the students. Since all the money was spent from the pocket, it was challenging us to make it as a finished product for ready to sell or functional proto type. We could able to make it as a proof of concept. The major issue, we had was applying for patent for the product. In the initial days, there were no policy for drafting the patents and we have drafted and filed for the patent. In fact, KCT has financially supported us to file the patent. The innovations and patents made by us has changed the institution to form a policy and now it is active. 87

88 IETF-2017 It is a good opportunity for us to exhibit in an international arena. Suggestions and enquires are overwhelming for both the products we exhibited. Based on trade enquires, we are more confident that our products have a strong commercial viability to start and register the company. If the students register this company, it will be a role model for many students to become entrepreneurs which will eventually help in nation building. The major outcome of this exhibition is that we have attracted good number of investors and companies who are looking for innovative products and technology transfer. It has provided wonderful opportunity for us to interact with stalwarts from both academia and industry. Inventors: M H Ashik, Roche Periyanayagam, Akhil Krishna, Dr. S. A. Pasupathy. and A. Ramkumar. Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. Student and Faculty Startup Initiatives Straw reinforced Mineral boards as acoustic tiles for sustainable built environment This product was developed to address the issue of burning the paddy field, provide value addition to the farmers and develop board with locally available material so as to manufacture at low cost. It took over 1.5 years to develop this product. Since this straw is reinforced first time with minerals, we carried out only by trail-error method and consumed not only time but also our money. Due to shortage of funds and manufacturing facility, it took longer time than we expected. Although we used our institution facility, it is not allowing us to make it in the size of commercial boards to test and validate. Other major issue is getting MgO in small quantities such as 5-10 Kgs. Most suppliers sell only in bulk quantities of minimum of a ton. If any pooled facilities are available, we could use them to manufacture better product and display with test results. IETF-2017 It is a real good opportunity for us to exhibit in an international arena. Suggestions, enquires are overwhelming for both the products we exhibited. Based on trade enquires, we are more confident that our products have a strong commercial viability to start and register the company. If the students register this company, it will be a role model for many students to become 88

89 entrepreneurs which will eventually help in nation building. The major outcome of this exhibition is that we have attracted good number of investors and companies who are looking for innovative products and technology transfer. It has provided wonderful opportunity for us to interact with stalwarts from both academia and industry. Inventors: Dr. S. A. Pasupathy, Mr. M. RameshKumar, Mr. P. Ranjithkumar and M. Sakthivel, Kumaraguru College of Technology, Coimbatore. Student and Faculty Startup Initiatives COPSCAM I have developed kit COPSCAM which provides security for police and the citizen. A smart device for policeman to, identify the criminal activity and details in the complaints. When a police official sees a criminal and if he does a posture like running, walking, jogging and hand waving other than hand-ups posture, then the device will automatically captures the video and sends its live streaming to the head office. The police walkie talkie which is already with the policeman is operated manually for the transmission of messages. But this device is implemented using sensors to detect the human posture which is automatic. It will act as a third eye for police/cops. IESS-2017 IESS Events which was held in Chennai Trade Center on 16,17&18 march 2017 given me opportunity to expose my prototype and also help me to know more about my prototype. Many campany has begiven more interest about my project. And the company was in contact which me and also helping me to develop my project. This event made my project to the next level where I am going to perform a testing Process. Here by the IESS event made a turning point for my project. Last but not least I want to thank EDII Tamil Nadu who given a opportunity to know more about the business world and also help us to improve our project efficiency.
