1 TOWN OF NORMAL HARMON ARTS GRANT PROGRAM FUNDING CONSIDERATIONS AND POLICIES PRIMARY FUNDING PRIORITIES: Programs taking place within the Town of Normal Programs administered by not-for-profit organizations Programs administered by recognized community organizations Funding to make a program or event more accessible to the public, particularly seniors, students, and lowincome residents. Operating costs associated with specific projects or performances Programs serving a large number of patrons Programs administered by organizations with a stated purpose to promote the arts SECONDARY FUNDING PRIORITIES: Funding requests for capital items, such as equipment Programs serving a small number of patrons Quasi-arts programs Acquisition of art objects for the community POLICIES: The official Town of Normal Harmon Arts Grant program application form must be used, although it can be supplemented with additional information. Applications must be typed. The maximum grant for which a single organization is eligible is $5,000. All applications for funds will be reviewed by the Harmon Arts Review Committee. The Harmon Arts Review Committee will recommend grant awards to the Town Council. The Town Council ultimately authorizes all grant expenditures. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all grant requests. Programs receiving grant funds must occur during the 12 month period beginning July 1, 2017 and ending June 30, Organizations receiving a Harmon Arts Grant award will be required to execute a grant agreement and a representative of the organization receiving the grant must attend the check presentation immediately before the July 5 City Council meeting. GRANTEES MUST SUBMIT A COMPLETED GRANT REPORTING FORM AVAILABLE ON THE TOWN WEBSITE WITHIN NINETY DAYS OF PROGRAM COMPLETION. GRANTEES WHO FAIL TO SUBMIT DOCUMENTATION WILL BE INELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR FUTURE HARMON ART GRANT AWARDS.

If your program will take place between the grant deadline and July 1, please submit your expenses to date. Reporting form may be found on - 4

5 APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Include name and address of the organization applying for the grant. This organization will be responsible for executing the grant agreement and submission of a post-project report. 2. List the name and contact information, phone and of the president or chief officer of the organization listed in #1. 3. If the contact for the grant program or project is not the organization s CEO, list the contact name, phone and . If the CEO is the grant applicant s contact, list same as above. 4. Reply yes or no. If yes, submit documentation of not-for-profit status with your application. This documentation does not count as one of the five grant pages allowed. 5. This should include years in operation and programs or projects successfully accomplished. 6. Explain the overall goals of the organization. This may be a formal mission statement. 7. Include number of patrons served by the organization s art-related projects. 8. Include all expenses to be paid by grant funds. Information should be itemized with bids, quotes, or documentation of similar past expenses when applicable. When explaining your program or event, don t assume the reader is knowledgeable about the activity; be specific about what aspects will be funded by the grant. 9. List the venue or venue(s) that will be where the event or program will be held. 10. List grant award(s) by name, e.g. Community Foundation, include amount of each award. 11. Estimate the number of people who will be served by your project or program funded by the Harmon Arts Grant award. If applicable, estimate the number of children, seniors and/or low income residents to be served. 12. If you answered no to this question, explain how grant funding is vital to your planned project, performance or program. If yes, with modifications, explain how you will modify your plans to fit the reduced award. Additional comments: Include any information you feel may be important to the Grant Committee. You may include supporting documentation, but your grant application may not exceed five letter size (8 1/2 by 11) pages. This page, policy page and documentation of notfor-profit status do not count toward your five-page limit.
