All Creave Arts Divisions are subject to the Tennessee State Fair Rules, located on page 10, Department and Division Rules. 2. Pre-registraon is MOST important. Exhibitors must register with the Tennessee State Fair to be eligible for award money. 3. An entry fee per class will be charged, $2.00 for Open/Adult Divisions and NO FEES for Youth Divisions. 4. Late Fees will be enforced! Those who do not Pre-register entries, will pay addional fees. Late registraon will be on Check-In Dates only. Late Fees will be: $4.00 for Open/Adult Division and $2.00 for Youth Divisions 5. Entries will not be accepted before or a.er receiving dates. Exhibitors MUST pay all freight and express charges on their exhibits. Refer to the posted dates. To be eligible for premiums, all exhibits must be in place before the official judging. 6. Delivering Items to the State Fair: Hand Delivered entries are to be brought to the Creave Arts Building at the posted dates and mes. Mailing Exhibits: When distance prevents personal Check-In:, they may be mailed. Please do not send canned exhibits. If you re mailing an exhibit, you MUST nofy the Creave Arts Superintendent, Kelly Reilly either by phone or SuperCA@tnstatefair.org. DO NOT SEND ARTICLES FOR EXHIBIT WITHOUT FIRST HAVING THEM ENTERED. Please include a copy of your entry form with your exhibits. Any entries received by mail will not be returned by mail. All mailed exhibits must be sent PRE-PAID (no C.O.D.s) and addressed to: Tennessee State Fair/Creave Arts Department; P.O. Box 24747; Nashville, TN Fair management reserves the right to alter, cancel or refuse to show any item in the best interest of the public. 8. Adult Division exhibitors are to be aged 19 and older. Youth Division exhibitors are for entrants 18 or younger as of June 1st of the current year. Excepons may be made for seniors in high school in divisions classes divided by grade. 9. Entries must be made in only one of the two categories-either (1) Experience/Professional or (2) Beginner/Intermediate/ Amateur -but not both. Those engaged in any line of work as a profession or business or as teachers of the same are considered professional and must exhibit in the classes where specified. 10. All arcles for exhibit in this department must be strictly the handiwork of the exhibitor. 11. Photography and Canned Products must have been completed within the last twelve (12) months. All quilted items entered must have been completed by the exhibitor with the last five (5) years. All other items entered must have been completed by the exhibitor within the last two (2) years. 12. Entrants may enter items in as many classes as they choose. Only one item is allowed per class. Excepon: Exhibitor will be eligible to enter up to 2 items per class where indicated. However, items MUST be disncvely different arcles and listed separately on entry form, with the descripons. Sets of items, such as napkins, are considered one entry. Any one item entered may qualify for only one class (i.e. one painng may not be entered under both the Fair Themed Item and Oil or Acrylic classes). 13. Arcles shall not have been entered in the Tennessee State Fair previously. All arcles must be in good condion. No arcles that are soiled, stained, damaged, having an odor, or covered with pet hair will be accepted. 14. Exhibitors may supply their own stands, easels, etc. for the purpose of displaying their work. Please label each with Exhibitor's Name, not visible to the public. 15. The management will give good care to all arcles on exhibion, but will not be responsible for loss or damage, should any occur. 30
2 16. BEST OF SHOW will be a single exhibit especially selected by the Judge(s) as outstanding, chosen from 1st place winners in class(es). Best of Show ribbons will be awarded for Divisions ONLY where they are listed. 17. Judges reserve the right to withhold premiums/ribbons if entries are insufficient or are not of award caliber. Decision of the judge(s) is final. 18. No exhibits will be released prior to the close of the Fair. Entries will be released for pick on Monday between 9 a.m. unl 6 p.m. a.er the close of the Fair, no excepons. ALL entries must be out by posted me or entries become property of the Tennessee State Fair Associaon. If any entry is removed before the end of the fair, the premium money and ribbon will be forfeited. 19. Premiums will be paid according to the official awards entered in the judge s book. Because ribbons are somemes misplaced, the Judge s Book will be the final authority for determinaon of winners. Premiums will be paid accordingly, unless listed otherwise. 1st Place-$8, 2nd Place-$6, 3rd Place-$4 20. If total premiums won exceed the amount offered by the TN State Fair of $11,362.00, then individual premium amounts will be prorated. Only two monies will be paid to the exhibitor in a particular class. 21. Premiums will be issued at the same me as the release of exhibits. You must provide a photo id and have your claim cket (s) present. Those that are not able to claim their premiums at that me must sign a release form at the day of exhibit delivery. The person picking up the premiums will have to provide a photo id and have the claim cket (s) in hand. Awards will be located in the Creave Arts Building in the cash office. Quilt and Sewing After Fair Pick Up Dates at Off-Site* Sponsors: Entries will be returned back to the shops by close of business on Saturday September 22nd. The shops will notify you when the items have arrived back from the Fair. If someone intends to come and pick up their entries at the Fairgrounds on September 17th, even though they dropped them off at a sponsoring shop to enter them, they MUST indicate the intended pickup place to be written on the entry paper next to the shop s name so that the TN State Fair is prepared to release them to the entrants on that date otherwise they will be held back for delivery the following week. This is for the security of both the entries, the entrant s piece of mind and the shops security. Exhibits must be in disposable containers, on a piece of heavy cardboard covered with foil or other wrap or zip lock bags. Any entries in a non-disposable containers will be disqualified and will be turned away at check-in. Cakes entered for taste should be no larger than 8 circle or square or ½ cake of larger size. 2. Judging will be closed to the public. No one will be allowed to stay ader receiving me on Wednesday. Winners will be displayed and posted a.er the opening of the Fair. Non-placing entries will be donated ader judging. A separate zip-type plasc bag containing 12 cookies must be submixed for judging. 5. Children will be judges for this contest. The complete recipe must be presented with the entry. Submissions will not be accepted without the recipe card axached. 4. Entry will be judged as is at the me of submission. 5. Entry must be submixed in a disposable container. 6. Only one entry per person. 7. Frist place will receive $150. Second place will receive $75. Third place will receive $50. 6 Creave Arts-Apple Pie Tennessee Apple Pie Contest The Tennessee State Fair wants to find the BEST apple pie in the State of Tennessee! Chair: Kate Lansaw, Phone: or First place Will receive $500, and Tennessee State Fair cumng board. Pie recipe, bio of the winning baker, and picture will be publicly recognized Second place Will receive $150. Third place Will receive $75. Contest Date: Saturday, September 15, 2018 Deadline: Mail-In - Wed., Sept. 5 th Online - Tue. Sept. 11 th Entry Fee: $2.00 per entry Rules of the pie-baking contest: Competor must be a Tennessee resident 18 years of age or older Competor must be an individual, not a company Only one submission per person Submissions will not be accepted without the recipe card axached to the container (Do not include name or address on recipe card) Apples must be the predominant fruit baked into the pie All pies must be baked in a 8-9 pie plate. All pies must be submixed in a disposable container. Containers will not be returned to competors at the conclusion of the contest. Once a pie has been submixed, Fair officials will not assist in pouring, spreading, drizzling, etc. a topping onto the pie. Toppings MUST be on the pie at the me of submission. Originality 25% Flavor 50% Direcons for submission: Each competor will receive by a copy of this informaon sheet and a Fair pass no later than Wed., Sept. 12th. The Fair pass is good for free parking and entry to the fair for the competor only. You MUST have pie in hand to receive free parking and free entry. Fair gates open at 10:30AM on Sat., Sept. 15th; however, submissions for the compeon will be received from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM in the Creave Arts Building. NO SUBMISSIONS WILL BE RECEIVED AFTER 12:00 PM. Please refer to the countdown clock at the check-in staon. Preliminary judging will take place immediately following the 12:00 PM submission deadline.
