NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS PROPOSED EXPANSION OF EXISTING ABALONE FARM AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN ABALONE PROCESSING FACILITY AT DANGER POINT

4 NOTICE OF APPLICATIONS FOR ENVIRONMENTAL AUTHORISATION AND PUBLIC PARTICIPATION PROCESS PROPOSED EXPANSION OF EXISTING ABALONE FARM AND DEVELOPMENT OF AN ABALONE PROCESSING FACILITY AT DANGER POINT NEAR GANSBAAI NOTICE NO: IJ/01/EIA 02/2017 Notification of the intention to apply for Environmental Authorisation for the above-mentioned activities on the Remainder of Farm Klipfontein 711 in terms of the National Environmental Management Act, 1998 (No. 107 of 1998) (NEMA) and the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations 2014 (as amended). APPLICANT: Irvin and Johnson Ltd (I&J) ACTIVITY: I&J is proposing two separate development projects on the Remainder of Farm Klipfontein 711: Project 1: The expansion of the current abalone operation from 500 tons per annum (t/a) to t/a. The facility would be expanded in three phases as the market and support infrastructure dictates. Project 2: The development of an abalone processing facility. The proposed plant would be designed to process 350 t/a of abalone (sales weight). Products would include: frozen whole, frozen shucked, live, dried and canned shucked abalone. The proposed expansion project (Project 1) triggers activities in Listing Notices 1, 2 and 3, and thus requires a Scoping and EIA process to be undertaken. The proposed abalone processing facility (Project 2), which triggers activities in Listing Notice 1 and 3, requires a Basic Assessment process. Separate applications will be made for Environmental Authorisation for each project. 5 KENNISGEWING VAN AANSOEKE VIR OMGEWINGSGOEDKEURING EN PUBLIEKE DEELNAME PROSES VOORGESTELDE UITBREIDING VAN DIE BESTAANDE PERLEMOENPLAAS EN ONTWIKKELING VAN N PERLEMOEN VERWERKINGSAANLEG BY DANGER POINT NABY GANSBAAI KENNISGEWING NO: IJ/01/EIA 02/2017 Kennisgewing van die Voorneme om Aansoek te doen vir Omgewingsgoedkeuring vir Bovermelde Aktiwiteite op die Restant van Plaas Klipfontein 711 in terme van die Nasionale Wet op Omgewingsbestuur, 1998 (No. 107 of 1998) ( NEMA ) en die Omgewingsimpakbepaling Regulasies 2014 (soos gewysig)- AANSOEKER: Irvin and Johnson Bpk (I&J) AKTIWITEIT: I&J stel twee onafhanklike ontwikkelingsprojekte voor op die Restant van Plaas Klipfontein 711: Projek 1: Uitbreiding van die bestaande perlemoenaanleg vanaf 500 ton per jaar (t/j) na t/j. The aanleg sal in drie fases uitgebrei word soos markkragte en ondersteunende infrastruktuur voorskryf. Projek 2: Die ontwikkeling van n perlemoen verwerkingsaanleg. Die voorgestelde aanleg sal ontwerp word om 350 t/j perlemoen (verkoop gewing) te verwerk. Verwerkte produkte sal bestaan uit heel gevriesde, ontskulpte gevriesde, gedroogde en ingemaakte perlemoen. Die voorgestelde uitbreidingsprojek (Projek 1) behels gelyste aktiwiteite soos vervat in Inlyskennisgewings 1, 2 en 3 en vereis dus dat die Omvang en OIB proses onderneem word. Die voorgestelde perlemoen verwerkingsaanleg (Projek 2),wat gelyste aktiwiteite vervat in Inlyskennisgewings 1 and 3 behels, vereis alleen n Basiese Assessering proses. Aparte aansoeke sal dus gedoen word vir Omgewingsgoedkeuring vir elke projek afsonderlik..
