2 1. Narrated steps 1. Log onto the RDP online application system. Consult video for steps to log on. Link to help video: 2. Click on Request for Research Funding 3. Click on Research Development Programme 4. Select whether you are apply on behalf of someone else or for yourself Note if you are applying on behalf of someone else, you will require his or her employee number to complete the application form. 5. Step 1 of the new application form: Verify personal details Most of the personal details will pull through from the HR system. Applicants need to verify that the information is complete and accurate. Foreign nationals need to indicate the visa type and provide the visa number. 6. Step 2 of the new application form: Complete supervisor detail Indicate supervisor/ line manager or mentor. Note that this person will be required along with the Head of Department (HoD) to approve the application before the application is officially submitted to the Faculty for ranking. Indicate the number of years support is required, namely one to three years for early career researchers and one year for established researchers who are newly appointed at UP. 7. Step 3 of the new application form: Complete application form Follow the instructions and complete the application form. 8. Step 4 of the new application form: Add attachments The Curriculum Vitae is a mandatory attachment. 9. Step 5 of the new application form: Complete the budget Complete the budget items including staff replacement Indicate other funding sources where the applicant applied for external funding The total of the other funding sources will deduct from the requested amount Add budget motivations The total requested amount may not exceed R Step 6 of the new application form: Complete declaration and submit application Page 2 of 9
