(It will only be used if you earn a scholarship. Photos will not be returned.) The Essays to Your freshman eaf The essays give our judges a picture of your understanding of complex topics in agriculture. With that in mind, please be sure to answer the questions thoroughly and to the best of your ability. Feel free to interview individuals knowledgeable in the agriculture industry, specifically in ag marketing and risk management, and use agriculture publications as sources. 1. How can marketing production with other farmers and ranchers improve prices for grain, dairy and livestock? 2. Choose one strategy: Niche marketing, price risk management or price negotiation. Discuss and give examples of how that strategy can increase financial rewards on an independent farm. (Total for both questions: 850 words minimum, 1,200 words maximum) 1
