3 The MITRE Corporation MITRE is a private, independent, not-for-profit organization, chartered to work in the public interest Founded in 1958 to provide engineering and technical services to the U.S. Air Force Currently manages six Federally Funded Research and Development Centers for the Department of Defense, the Federal Aviation Administration, the Internal Revenue Service/Department of Veterans Affairs, the Department of Homeland Security, the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts, and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services Our Mission: As a public interest company, MITRE works in partnership with the government, applying systems engineering and advanced technology to address issues of critical national importance Page 3
