1 Monash Abroad Office of the Vice-Chancellor and President (Global Engagement) 2017 ENDEAVOUR MOBILITY GRANTS Asia Postgraduate Programme (Asia Postgrad) The Asia Postgraduate Programme (Asia Postgrad) provides Short-term and Semester Grants for Postgraduate Students to undertake study overseas that is for Academic Credit or is otherwise a mandatory component of the Student s course. Asia Postgrad grants may be used to support Students to participate either in short-term (up to six months) Projects in a relevant field or course of study or semester study in any discipline at a Partner Institution of the Student s Higher Education Provider. Study may be undertaken in Asian and Pacific locations (see section 1.3.3). Asia Postgrad Projects must be administered by a Higher Education Provider. Language Support Grants are available for Projects with a language component to assist Students to improve their Asian language competency before and while they are undertaking study in Asia. A Project Facilitation Subsidy is also available to assist Higher Education Providers with costs associated with managing approved Projects. The aims of Asia Postgrad are to: increase the overall number of Australian postgraduate students with a first-hand study experience of Asia and the Pacific through funding for short-term and semester study opportunities encourage more postgraduate students to become more Asia-literate by supporting higher education providers to diversify their mobility offerings in Asia enhance the skills and expertise of Australians through access to a variety of study opportunities in Asia and the Pacific support increased Asian language competency of Australian postgraduate students, together with increased numbers of students with mobility experiences increase collaboration and partnerships between Australian and overseas higher education institutions. Monash applications for 2017 Asia Postgrad grant funding This document provides further information on the submission of AsiaPostgrad grant applications into the Monash central system. 2 a) 2017 Endeavour Mobility Grants guidelines b) 2017 Endeavour Mobility Grants FAQs Process 2017 Endeavour Mobility Programmes applications start as an internal project submission for consolidation into the suite of Monash applications made to the Department of Education and Training via Global Engagement. This internal application is for international short-term mobility projects submission under the Asia Postgraduate Programme. It should be completed having read program guidelines for the 2017 round to ensure applications best support the Monash international agenda and presence. For the 2017 round, project coordinators must submit one application per mobility project. Where you are seeking funding for multiple mobility projects in the same host location, you must submit a separate application for each mobility project. Up to 10 locations may be selected for a short-term project. If multiple locations are selected, these should be a realistic reflection of where students are likely to be studying. Overview of eligibility requirements Mobility Programme Asia Postgraduate Programme (Asia Postgrad) Description Asia Postgrad grants are available to Postgraduate Students to participate in a international short-term (up to six months) experience or a semester exchange study at a partner institution in Asia or the Pacific that directly relates to a relevant field of study, and provides Academic Credit or is otherwise a mandatory component of their course. Short-term projects including: practicums or clinical placements; paid or unpaid internships or work placements; professional entry programmes; research; short-term study; and volunteer projects. Semester study must attract tuition fee waiver. For further information about AsiaPostgrad, see section 6 of the Guidelines. Page 2 of 8

6 2. RESPONSES TO SELECTION CRITERIA CRITERION 1. (50 per cent weighting, maximum 300 words) Outline the desired outcomes of the Project and the relevance of the Project to the participating Students field or course of study. 7 CRITERION 2. (40 per cent weighting, maximum 200 words) Outline how the institution will manage the Project successfully and engage Students in the Project. RESPONSE: (No more than 200 words. Response exceeding 200 words will not be accepted through government online application) CRITERION 3. (10 per cent weighting, maximum 150 words) Describe how the institution will encourage the participation and success of Students from identified disadvantaged backgrounds in the Project. Refer to section of the Guidelines for further information about Students from disadvantaged and low SES backgrounds. RESPONSE: (No more than 150 words.
