14 Way Forward Lessons and Recommendations Lessons Actions Need for neutral intermediary but Promote transparency, safeguarding IP & ensuring timeous role can be refined feedback to participating parties & handover of stages. Misunderstandings and perceptions around OI Training workshops and road shows, share success stories. Collective effort will benefit all users. Risk that seen as a replacement for tender process Procurement processes do not promote innovation acquisition in the public sector Understand and refine value proposition and protect platform role through appropriate governance There is need for a taskforce to make a case for innovation procurement in general including OI OI creates a platform for SMMEs to access opportunities There is need to facilitate and help capacitate SMEs to leverage OI opportunities.
