1 Bursary Programme 2018 Application NPO IT 3895/11 This Bursary Programme is funded by INFORMATION LETTER invites bursary applications from dependants of employees earning R cost to company or less per month, who are South African citizens and who want to study further at South African public institutions in National Diploma or Degree programmes leading to careers in Tourism. Dear Applicant Please read the instructions in the Bursary Rules, before completing the application form. 1. General instructions 1.1 The completed application form must be submitted before 31 August 2017 if you want to be considered for a 2018 bursary, administered by Studytrust. 1.2 Only application forms completed correctly, in full and accompanied by the required supporting documents will be considered. 1.3 Due to a possible postal strike, we encourage applicants to make use of the online application facility or alternatively your completed form and supporting documents to tourvest@studytrust.org.za or fax your completed form and supporting documents to Only applications from South African citizens will be considered. 1.5 Please apply timeously for admission for next year to the educational institution of your choice. 1.6 An application made on a Studytrust application form will be considered for all the bursaries we manage. Applicants thus only have to complete one form. Applicants are requested to their final results to tourvest@studytrust.org.za by 31 August However, applicants are advised to apply for as many other bursaries not managed by us, as possible. 1.7 Please also apply for a NSFAS loan ( in case your bursary application is unsuccessful. 1.8 In the event an applicant deliberately misleads and Studytrust through the provision of false information, the bursary will be automatically cancelled and will reserve all rights to recoup money already spent on the applicant. 2. Required documents 2.1 A copy of this year s June results (2017) or your latest results if you are not studying this year. (Tertiary students have to include their complete academic record.) 2.2 A copy of your NSC / matric results (if you have completed school). 2.3 A copy of your provisional admission letter to the institution you applied to study at. Or, an explanation why this has not happened. 2.4 A copy of your ID document. Or, an explanation why you do not have a SA ID. 3 Selection criteria The main criteria used in the selection of successful applicants to the bursary are as follows: 3.1 Academic excellence: Selection will be done on the basis of pre-lim and June Grade 12 results compared to Grade 11 results. Students must have a minimum of a C-symbol aggregate in Grade The Employee must earn R cost to company or less per month. 3.4 No bursaries are available for private tertiary institutions, unless a motivation is attached. 3.5 Preference will be given to learners who wish to study towards a career that would be of benefit to, including but not limited to travel, tourism, hospitality, accounting, marketing, retail, computer science, IT and human resources. All applicants must provide a motivation as to how their preferred field of study would be of benefit to. 4 Selection process A Studytrust panel will conduct interviews with short-listed students, make final recommendations to, and thereafter, will communicate its final decision to all participating candidates. 5 The value of the bursary The bursary is comprehensive and includes the following: 5.1 University/FET tuition fees, registration fees and exam fees. 5.2 A single room at a University/FET hostel or a stipend where the bursar is staying at a private residence. The amount will be determined by Studytrust in conjunction with the University. 5.3 Three meals per day, as provided for by the University/FET, as determined by Studytrust. 5.4 Approximately R a year for learning materials and living expenses. 5.5 At the end of each year, the student will provide proof of successful completion of that year s study while the employee will also be required to provide proof of a monthly income below the R cost to company threshold. 5.6 In the event the employee leaves while their dependant is still studying, the dependant may still benefit from the bursary. 6 Service contract: On the successful completion of his or her studies, the bursar will be required to work for for a period of time equal to the period funded. 7 Submitted application forms: acknowledgement of receipt and outcome 7.1 Receipt: You will receive an to the address provided in your application confirming receipt of your completed application form within 7 days.
