1 Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation Newsletter Date Volume 2, Issue 1 ODKF News Now is the Time to Reduce your Tax Liability by Giving to your Ohio Kiwanis Foundation Your Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation offers a variety of giving programs that can help Kiwanis members reduce their tax liability for the 2016 year. The advantage of giving to your Ohio Kiwanis Foundation is that children and families in Ohio benefit by your gift while you receive a tax deduction. You should can find the list of giving programs on page 3 of this newsletter or you can find greater detail by visiting our web site at odkf.org. Any of our Board members or staff that are shown on page 2 of this newsletter are available to explain our options on how to reduce your tax liability for Ohio Kiwanis Foundation receives $10,000 Grant We are pleased to announce that the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation has received a $10,000 grant from Firespring.org and the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations. The grant is to be used to help our organization refresh, update, modify, and improve our website. The areas of emphasis are content management, member management, marketing, event registration, social media marketing, search engine optimization, donation processing, and funding tools. Foundation President Dave Kuhn received the grant at a statewide conference in Columbus on November 16. Grants are given to clubs for projects that emphasize Safe and Healthy Kids. The four areas of focus are: Safe Home, Safe Play, Safe Bicycle & Water Safety. 4 BENEFITS FOR CLUBS 1. Honor Club Members for Their Service Donations of $500 or $1,000 are recognized with PIP, Penn, Sellers, Williams or Schneider Awards. 2. Grants Support Kiwanis Service Projects Funds are awarded three times a year for service projects supported by Kiwanis Clubs. 3. Club Advised Funds provide Investment with Foundation Assets Clubs benefit from 501(c)(3) status and investment pool of the Foundation. BENEFITS FOR SERVICE LEADERSHIP PROGRAMS 1. A $1000 scholarship is awarded to both Ohio Key Club and Circle K for their members 2. KICK Fund Donations are passed through to Circle K Board for support of their leadership education events. 3. Circle K and Key Club Leadership Development Funds. Donations help each organization with leadership activities 4. Key Leader Fund Donations help fund students to this Service and Leadership development event BENEFITS FOR CHILDREN IN OHIO 1. Kiwanis Safe and Healthy Kids Fund Grants are awarded three times a year for Kiwanis Club projects which address Safe Home, Safe Play, Bicycle Safety, and Water Safety. 2. Community Service Grants Grants are awarded three times a year to support community projects supported by Kiwanis Clubs HOW ARE FUNDS RAISED? 1. Annual Club Birthday Fund Each club is asked to donate $3 per member during the month of the club s charter anniversary. 2. Ohio Kiwanis Legion of Honor Society Donations from Kiwanians with 25 years of membership and every 5 years thereafter are recognized in the Circle of Excellence, Circle of Leadership and Circle of Achievement. 3. Past International Presidents (PIP) Awards Donation of $500 is recognized with a plaque, medallion, and pin. 4. Penn, Sellers, Williams or Schneider Awards Donation of $1,000 is recognized with a plaque, pin, and medallion. 5. Ambassador Program Recognition is given for continuing gifts of support for the Foundation with an entry level minimum gift of $50. $500 level receives a PIP and $1000 level receives a Past President award. 6. District Golf Outing Fellowship and fundraising for the Foundation is combined in this one day event each summer 7. Walk the Magic Mile Clubs sponsor this one-mile walkathon to raise funds for Kiwanis Safe and Healthy Kids projects in their community and to raise funds for the Foundation. 8. Basket Room Silent Auction at Annual District Convention Baskets and other items are auctioned off to help support Foundation programs. 9. Endowment Society a recognition program for those individuals who want to include unrestricted gifts to the Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation in their estate plan 10. License Plate Program Sign up at Foundation receives $25 for each license plate. Visit our Web site for more detailed information on all of these giving and support opportunities

5 Social Media Coordinator Needed The Ohio District Kiwanis Foundation received a $10,000 grant from the Ohio Association of Nonprofit Organizations and FireSpring, Inc. to refresh our use of social media. To help us with this area of emphasis we are looking for a social media coordinator. This is a volunteer position that ODKF has budgeted for reimbursement for expenses incurred to perform the duties of this position. Interested individuals can contact our executive director at directory@odkf.org for details. Ohio Kiwanis License Plates help show your Kiwanis Pride Help support your Foundation by purchasing an Ohio Kiwanis license plate. $25 of your purchase goes to the Foundation and will support our Kiwanis Safe and Healthy Kids campaign. Encourage your club members to join you as you share your love for Kiwanis and its mission by displaying our logo on your license plate. Expand your Legacy of Service to Kiwanis by Joining the Ohio Kiwanis Endowment Society As members of Kiwanis each of us has a passion for service. A great way to share this passion is through a gift to the Ohio Kiwanis Foundation. The dollars given will grow your legacy of service for years to come. Become a member of our Endowment Society and reap the benefits of tax deductible opportunities while helping your Foundation continue its work to improve the lives of children and families in Ohio. Support our Kiwanis Sponsored Leadership Programs You can help continue our legacy of service to youth in Ohio by supporting our Service Leadership Programs, These programs need your support to provide scholarships for members who cannot afford to participate in District or International leadership activities. Make a gift to: 5 The KICK Fund (Kiwanis Investing in Circle K) - $100 donation per club would greatly benefit our college level Kiwanis members Key Leader Fund- A $150 donation pays for a student to participate in this weekend leadership experience Key Club Leadership Development Fund Your contribution will help support leadership opportunities for our District Key Clubs
