7 Challenges of CFAFR Funding of projects: CFAFR is a catholic and vocational institution under the care of the Vicariate Apostolic of Rodrigues and depends mostly on private funding and grants to implement projects Financial challenges: There was a need to include more coaches & mentors for farming related training of youth Assistance to young entrepreneurs Difficulty to develop start-ups when the young students leave the institution at the age of 18 years old Exposure to national and international platforms for youth Optimisation of resources In the form of land, water, energy, visibility and waste management

8 Transition to SCP & Green Business Model/ Eco-innovation Empowerment of the youth Agricultural and Food Security: Need to reduce our imports and concentrate on empowerment of the youth to favour local production and sustainable economy (food security) Environmental developments: Economic and environmental developments in Rodrigues Island. There is a strong warning for energy, food and financial crises as well as ecological limits In line with the Regional & National Government Policy

15 Drivers and Economic Incentives SWITCH Africa Green Team Strong commitment to encourage and support all grantees in their project implementation since award of contracts in November 2015 and on-going Chief Commissioner s Office and the Commission for Agriculture Since the beginning of the project, strong encouragement to our beneficiaries We are looking at the possibility of agricultural lease for the youth s start-up eco-enterprise at the end of their studies at the Centre Commission for Training Strong commitment to assist the Centre with support required. For example, recent assistance in our Networking Education Tour in Mauritius
