1 Purpose: To encourage high school or community college MESA students to enroll in engineering, mathematics and science programs at the. What: MESA students who receive Cal Grant A or Cal Grant B may apply for University grant or scholarship funds to match or exceed the Cal Grant plus an additional $1,000 MESA Scholarship. For students who qualify for the NSF MESA Scholarship, students will receive a matching MESA scholarship valued at the amount of the NSF MESA scholarship (current range $2,500-$4,200 Note: This is awarded in place of the standard $1,000 MESA scholarship) Who: To be eligible for this program, you must: Participate in a high school or community college MESA Program for at least one year before entering. When: UNIVERSITY OF THE PACIFIC MESA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Apply for and receive a Cal Grant A or Cal Grant B. Be admitted to the University with a minimum GPA of 3.0. Enroll at Pacific within three years of high school graduation and major in engineering, mathematics, or science. Remain eligible for renewal of the Cal Grant while enrolled at University of the Pacific, meet University academic requirements, and maintain satisfactory academic progress toward completion of your degree. 3 Application for The MESA Scholarship Program Application Instructions Step 1: ADMISSION & MESA SCHOLARSHIP Admission Application MESA Scholarship Application MESA Advisor/Director Letter Test Scores Fill out the admission application at and this MESA Scholarship Application, following all instructions provided. Ask your MESA advisor/director to write a letter of recommendation certifying your MESA participation. Letter of recommendation can be mailed in or completed online at Send your admission application, scholarship application and MESA advisor/director letter to: Office of Admission 3601 Pacific Ave. If you are applying to the as a Freshman, you are required to take either the SAT-I or the ACT and have your scores sent electronically to Pacific. Please be aware that the December test will be the last scores accepted for admission. Application Type Early Action (Priority Filing Date) Pre-Pharmacy Pre-Dentistry Dental Hygiene Regular Freshman Admissions Step 2: FINANCIAL AID Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Application Deadline January 15, 2011 Notification Date January 15, 2011 To apply for financial aid, including a Cal Grant, you'll need to file a FAFSA. Complete the FAFSA at Or call to have a paper FAFSA mailed to you. Both versions are available in Spanish. E-sign your FAFSA using your Federal Student Aid PIN. If you don't already have a PIN you can receive one instantly when completing the FAFSA online or apply for one at Cal Grant GPA Verification Form (New Cal Grant Applicants, ONLY) Priority Filing Date: February 15, 2011 To apply for a Cal Grant, also get a Cal Grant GPA form from your high school counselor, your community college financial aid office, or the Pacific Financial Aid Office. Fill out and sign the STUDENT section. Have an official at your school complete the SCHOOL section, certifying your Cal Grant GPA. Mail your completed form in the envelope provided to the California Student Aid Commission. Some schools submit a list of GPAs directly to the California Student Aid Commission. If your school follows this procedure, you don't have to send in an individual GPA Form, but it's your responsibility to confirm that the school will submit your GPA for you no later than March 2nd.
