1 SUNY Participation in National Manufacturing Day October 3, 2014 SUNY Oswego Technology Annual Fall Conference The Technology Annual Fall Conference is an educational mainstay that celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2014 Oct. 30 and 31. It involves hundreds of faculty, technology students, technology teachers and school administrators, and technology education venders from the Northeastern states. Presentations, demonstrations, round table discussion groups, and other professional development activities are featured. Keynote Address this year by Yvonne M. Spicer, Ed.D, Vice President of Advocacy & Educational Partnerships at the National Center for Technological Literacy at the Museum of Science in Boston. Insyte Consulting / Charter High School For Applied Technologies Event October 3, :00am to 10:00am 2245 Kenmore Avenue Buffalo, NY Insyte Consulting is the regional Manufacturing Extension Partnership Center, which will be showcasing some of the great things area schools are doing to educate kids about manufacturing. Join us at the Charter School for Applied Technologies to see what students) are learning and doing with additive manufacturing, welding and other manufacturing tools and techniques. Optimax specializes in Asphere, Cylinder, Sphere, and Plano/Flat optics in sizes up to 400mm. SUNY partners include: Monroe Community College Vice President Joe Biden highlighted MCC s job training partnership with local firms such as Optimax to fill higher paying manufacturing and tech jobs. Many Optimax employees have participated in MCC s Optical Technology program. SUNY Polytechnic Institute, Utica Campus Event October 3, :30am to 12:30pm 100 Seymour Rd Utica, NY The event will be held at the Wildcat Fieldhouse on the SUNYIT campus. There will be a panel of experts discussing "Hot Topics in Manufacturing" and a panel of recent graduates working in manufacturing who will address the student attendees. Noted pollster and author, John Zogby will present, "First Globals 2

SUNY Adirondack/WSWHE BOCES Event October 3, 2014 Private Event 27 Gick Road Saratoga Springs, NY SUNY Adirondack offers a unique collaboration between higher education, BOCES, school districts and business & industry partners. The Advanced Manufacturing Day will provide a host of activities to motivate students to consider careers in the advanced manufacturing field. Students will rotate through each of the planned activities. A site visit to one of our business partners, Irving Tissue will be a key focus. In addition to site visits, students will participate in a career fair of regional manufacturing businesses. The college will provide team building activities and improvisation workshops with a focus on communication and problem solving skills. Schenectady County Community College Event October 9, :30pm to 8:30pm Schenectady County Community College 78 Washington Avenue Schenectady, NY Special screening of the American Made Movie followed by a panel/discussion. The American Made Movie is a documentary released in September, 2013 that examines the factors contributing to the decline of the American manufacturing workforce and the integral role consumerism may play in getting the economy back on track. Post film panelists include representatives from local manufacturing, education and related groups. 4

Schenectady, NY The Museum of Innovation and Science will host a Mo Tech & CTE tabling & networking event in the atrium at 6:00 p.m. followed by a presentation & panel discussion at 7:00 p.m. featuring the Center for Advanced Technology at Mohonasen (a partnership between Capital Region BOCES, Schenectady County Community College & Mohonasen Central School District) moderated by Representative Paul Tonko (NY 20). Farmingdale State College Event October 3, :00am to 11 am 2350 Broadhollow Road Farmingdale, NY In partnership with the Long Island Forum for Technology and Arkwin Industries, the Institute for Research and Technology Transfer (IRTT) and the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department at Farmingdale State College are offering presentations and tours of our automated Manufacturing Facilities. The goal of the presentation and tour is to improve the public awareness of manufacturing careers and the value of manufacturing to the United States' economy. 5
