7 Cooperation projects - Minimum consortia Three independent legal entities from three different EU Member States or Associated countries (presently: Croatia, Iceland, Israel, Liechtenstein, Norway, Serbia, Switzerland, Turkey*) Provided this minimum has been achieved, any number of additional participants from other countries can be included, For Support actions (SAs) there are no restrictions; proposals may be presented by even a single organisation from any country *list regularly updated at

8 Cooperation projects - Funding Third country participants on the list of International Cooperation Partner Countries (ICPCs) are funded by the Commission Normally they are funded on exactly the same basis (percentages of eligible costs) as participants from an EU Member State nationality plays no role in the calculation of payments Alternatively - and unlike Member State participants - they may opt for a lumpsum payment

9 The International Cooperation Partner Countries are defined as the countries that are classified as low or middle-income third countries. The ICPC countries are listed in Annex 1 to the Workprogramme. In short, they are: all the countries in the rest of Europe the developing countries overseas

10 Specific International Cooperation Actions (SICAs) These are international research actions explicitly identified in a theme s Workprogramme, e.g. in ICT They have a special minimum consortium requirement of 4 participants independent of each other, 2 in the EU or Associated states and 2 in the target region

11 Electronic Submission The EPSS allows partners from anywhere in the world to participate in the writing of the proposal as easily as if they were co-located with their European partners If you are the proposal coordinator, you don t have to stop preparation early to allow time for a courier to take your proposal to Europe Proposers who fail to submit successfully via the EPSS are those who waited till the last minute. 21 Information Day and Brokerage Event Brussels, 13 September 2010 The European Commission is organising a European Infoday for the upcoming call for proposals under the 'Food, Agriculture and Fisheries and Biotechnology' theme of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7). The afternoon programme will consist of a Brokerage Event for the 2011 call, organised by the BIO CIRCLE project. During this Brokerage Event, researchers from Europe and Third Countries will have the opportunity to discuss opportunities to collaborate on proposals for topics in the 2011 KBBE Work Programme. 22 INCONTACT one world In this direction INCONTACT-one world is suggesting practical tools to achieve its objectives: 4 Annual INCO NCP conferences giving the opportunity for personal interaction, NCP professional training, discussion of global science policy issues, and presentation of research capacities from ICPC countries. INCO-Wiki, the Online Encyclopaedia on International Cooperation will move to a step further offering more complete practical information to the INCO NCPs/NIPs, aiming to become a live tool for the transfer of knowledge and best practices on International Cooperation. It will also act as a tool for publishing information and as a discussion platform. Special trainings for the professional development of the NCPs will be offered. A two-way communication channel with all the thematic NCPs will be set for facilitating the information flow on specific aspects of International Cooperation.

23 INCONTACT one world Free communication and networking tools will be studied and suggested for use. A global dialogue on Science policy will be initiated aiming to provide sound proposals to the EC. 17 Local FP7 information events will be organised around the globe aiming to increase awareness on FP opportunities. An NCP support mechanism will be established to provide initial support to newly assigned INCO NCPs. It is underlined that INCONTACT-one world, above anything else, is aiming to serve all the INCO NCPs and everybody is encouraged to participate in the project activities, meetings and discussions

30 KBBE : New/next generation of researchers for Neglected Zoonoses at the animal-human interface Mandatory ICPC Call: FP7-KBBE Description: How to read a Topic This topic focuses of targeted measures aiming at improving the career prospects for young researchers in the animal human interface of zoonotic diseases qualified by WHO as "neglected zoonoses". These diseases pose significant burden /. / In addition to the scientific aspects of the diseases, socio-economic, cultural, institutional and decision making aspects should be also addressed with an integrated and multisectoral approach. Coordination with ongoing EU and international activities in neglected zoonoses should be envisaged. Funding scheme: Coordination and Support Action targeted to SMEs. The requested European Union contribution shall not exceed EUR Additional eligibility criteria: Mandatory participation of 4 different ICPC (of which at least 3 from Africa). Additional selection criteria: SME Coordination and Support Action will only be selected for funding on the condition that the requested EU contribution going to SMEs is 15% or more of the total requested EU contribution. This will be assessed during evaluation and checked during negotiations. Proposals not fulfilling this criterion will not be
