4 Harvey D Johnson American Legion Post Mill Road Northfield, NJ August 2014 Tax ID: May 7, 2015 Dear Ronnie s Garden Center, The members of the Harvey D Johnson American Legion Post 295 of Northfield in conjunction with concerned citizens, businesses, and students from Northfield Community School have held and will hold several Post Crashers events to refurbish the Post and create a large Victory Garden. The American Legion Post was built in 1920 and had its last facelift in the 1950s! It was in need of some TLC and updating. Post Crashers has been doing this. With some beautification, more members of our community will use the facility and it will become a much-needed hub of the community. The Post Crasher kick-off event was held on 9/6/14 in honor of the National Day of Service and 9/11, with subsequent Post Crasher events on September 25, on October 25 (Make a Difference Day, on November 1 and 15. The fall Post Crashes covered the interior, where crashers painted, replaced ceiling tile, replaced floor tile, renovated the kitchen and decorated with paintings and prints. In addition, the fall crashes cleared the four-lot back yard of leaves, vines, weeds and other rubbish in order to make way for a patio/outdoor area for the community and a bountiful Victory Garden that will supply much needed fresh vegetables for the needy in this community. On April 23 (Global Youth Service Day, May 9, and throughout the summer, we will create a large Victory Garden that will grow much needed fruits and vegetables for our local veterans who are in financial trouble and the local Food Bank. I know that you are aware that Atlantic County leads the NATION in job losses. A total of 9,900 jobs were lost this year with four casinos closing and another 3,300 are going to lose their jobs with the pending closing of the Taj Mahal in Atlantic City. In America, 30,000 people die each day of hunger-related causes. One in five children suffer from food insecurity, 17,000 in Atlantic County. 47% of Atlantic County s youth receive free or reduced lunch. Our Victory Garden helps offer perpetual hunger relief to the poor and offers sustainability to the Food Bank. We have built nine 1 x4 x8 raised beds. The wood and soil was donated for the beds. We are purchasing tools, plants, seeds, a shed and materials for a deck with grant funds. We are hopeful that Ronnies could donate (or sell at cost flowers and shrubs to surround the shed, deck in the back yard and shrubs/flowers for the front? Please let us know if you can help in any way. Also, please check out our Post Crasher progress at We are also in the current today! (May 7 th edition Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Mr. Mark Doherty, Dr. Carol Ferguson Post 295 Commander, Post Crasher Committee Volunteer, Post Crasher Committee , Mbdoherty@comcast.net , cfergui@gmail.com

8 Harvey D Johnson American Legion Post Mill Road Northfield, NJ August 2014 Tax ID: March 17, 2015 Dear Mr. Peter, Thank you for your generous donation for our Post Crasher event at the Harvey D Johnson American Legion Post 295 for Friday, April 17, On April 17 (Global Youth Service Day, May 9, and throughout the summer, we will create a large Victory Garden that will grow much needed fruits and vegetables for our local veterans who are in financial trouble and local Food Bank. Our Victory Garden helps offer perpetual hunger relief to the poor and offers sustainability to the Food Bank. You are making this possible with your donation and we are very appreciative of your generosity. We are planning on building eight 8 x4 x8 raised beds and four 1 x4 x8 raised beds. In order to do this we need 94 2 x4 x8 boards. Is it possible that these boards could be cedar? If not, we will be happy with any non-treated wood (apparently treated wood is not good for growing vegetables?. I don t know if you can deliver them or we need to pick them up? We would need it a couple of weeks prior to our April 17 date, to cut the wood and build the beds (we are doing that at my house, so if you can deliver, it would be to 2043 N. Shepherd Drive. Finally, we d be honored if you d or a representative would like to attend our Post Crasher recognition ceremony on April 17, 2015 at 9:00am at the Northfield Community School? You and any of your employees and/or family members are welcome to come to our Post Crasher events to see what is happening, y all are welcome to help too! No need, we have 50 young students ready and willing to get dirty! But they will not be cutting the wood! You can answer all of my questions via (cfergui@gmail.com or phone ( Also, please check out our Post Crasher progress at Thank you for your support. Sincerely, Dr. Carol Ferguson Post Crasher Committee Member Bradley Ferguson Post Crasher Committee Member
