1 The Alexandria Chamber of Commerce honors businesses for their significant role in driving Alexandria s business community and economic growth. To be considered for a Business of the Year award, the organization must be setting the standards for excellence and innovation with their business practices and community involvement. Winners are announced at the Chamber s Best in Business Awards in October of Please visit for more information about the event, which will be posted later this year. 1. All nominees must be members of the Chamber and must be in good standing at both the time of nomination and at the time of the event 2. A representative from the business must be present at the Best in Business Awards in the event they have won 3. Nominees must met the additional criteria for the specific award for which the business is being nominated (see below) 4. Nominees must not have won in any category for the past 5 years 5. Nominator must be a member of the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce and must identify themselves on the application. A business may self-nominate or another individual may nominate the business for one of the categories below. 6. Nominations must be sent in by July 31, 2018 A selection committee will review applications and make selections. 4 Provide a brief description of what your business does and its primary activity in the business community. Include number of employees, how long it s been in business, etc,. This will be used for publication and press. What sector of the business community does this business operate within (i.e. banking, retail) and does the business fulfill a service gap in the region? Demonstrate how the company or product is considered creative and innovative, leading to success in the marketplace Does the business support collaborations to promote Alexandria businesses? (i.e. community partners, business associations) Describe your long term goals and the change/impact you hope to achieve What marketing tools are/will be used to promote your business? How will you measure the results of your campaign? The stated goals should be quantifiable and not stated n vague terms such as better service. For Profit Businesses: Demonstrate how the company has maintained consistent growth, both in number of employees and revenue (percentages indicating growth are acceptable. All information will remain strictly confidential) Nonprofit Businesses: Please provide your budget demonstrating income and expenditures (all financial information will remain strictly confidential) For Profit & Non-Profit Businesses: Describe plans to stain growth and staying power Completed Applications are due by July 31 st to Lpatish@alexchamber.com 4

5 Describe your involvement with the Chamber and how Chamber membership has contributed to improvement of your business (advocacy, benefits, networking, etc,.)
