OPEN: Brazil urban innovation competition in a nutshell Scope: Integration and governance of systems within a city Urban infrastructure and affordable, smart mobility Sustainable urban environments UK total budget: 2.4 mil UK project grant size: 200K 500K Minimum consortium (UK & Brazil): 1 UK business (UKPL) & 1 Indian business (BPL). 15 Some stats on Newton 11 Newton Fund competitions run with 7 countries, from a starting position of nearly zero relationships. International partnerships aren t easy! Of the 257 full-stage applications received, there were 159 counts of UK HEIs/Unis being included. Of the 257 applications received, we have jointly agreed to fund 57 projects = 23.6m worth of grant commitments made to UK businesses, universities and RTOs by Innovate UK. 32 of those 57 projects include HEIs. In 2/32, the HEI/Uni are leading the project; in 30/32 they are collaborators. Of those 32, it looks like only 3 include Scottish Unis (2 x Heriot Watt, and 1 x Edinburgh Napier), all as collaborators.
