3 New Project Development Program CPRA accepted proposals for new projects be evaluated in the 2017 Coastal Master Plan New projects could be proposed: That build and/or sustain land, through projects types identified in the 2012 Coastal Master Plan That provide significant Flood Risk Reduction, through structural or non-structural projects In response to radical shifts in the coastal landscape, resulting from hurricanes or other disasters that have occurred since the 2012 Coastal Master Plan That address future uncertainty challenges, such as climate change 3

4 New Project Development Program Screening Criteria: Like the 2012 plan, a screening process was used to determine whether a project has the potential to be included in the 2017 analysis Size Threshold Geographic Area Consistency with Master Plan Objectives and Principles Duplicative Effects Two Solicitation Periods occurred: May 23 August 21 (90 days) September 11 October 31 (50 days) 4

5 New Project Development Program Variety of Project Ideas Submitted including Bank Stabilization, Diversions, Hydrologic Restoration, Marsh Creation, Oyster Barrier Reef, Ridge Restoration, Shoreline Protection, and Structural Protection Project sponsors included Agencies, Parishes, Elected Officials, and Private Landowners Round 1: 129 Project Ideas Submitted from 25 Project Sponsors Round 2: 20 Project Ideas Submitted from 16 Project Sponsors 5

6 CWPPRA Coastal Wetlands Planning, Protection, and Restoration Act Project nominees in PPL 19 PPL 24 were considered (117 projects total) Same screening criteria as New Project Development Program Projects screened due to size, location, objectives, or duplication 6

7 LOSCO Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinators Office Under the Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) process, LOSCO has accepted restoration project proposals in response to the Deepwater Horizon and other oil spills 501 projects were considered Same screening criteria as New Project Development Program Projects screened due to size, location, objectives, lack of information, or duplication 7
