27 GO Bond Rollout Overview On November 6, 2012, nearly 70% of Miami-Dade voters supported proposition 222 to upgrade and modernize our schools GOB Guiding Principles Enhance safety and security of school buildings Renovate or upgrade every school Guarantee technology equity Seek stakeholder input while minimizing taxpayer burden Promote greater public/private partnership ventures Provide economic development and employment opportunities to our community Provide transparency and confidence with citizen advisory committee to ensure timely and equitable distribution of projects Dollars reinvested in the local economy 27

28 GO Bond Rollout Overview Since passage of the $1.2B GOB, the District has undertaken a number of activities critical to the successful implementation of the program, including: Creation and constitution of a GOB oversight body, the 21 st Century Schools Bond Advisory Committee, with wide representation from all sectors of the community Nine community meetings (Dialogue by Design) across the County on the Bond Pogam Program rollout Recent School Board action: Commissioned a Program Management and Support Services firm Appropriated $170 million to launch 68 GOB projects in Year 1 Sold first GO Bond Series to fund $200 million of projects Authorized a second Bond issuance worth up to $103 million in January 2014 to accelerate project roll-out 28 28

29 Upcoming GO Bond Work Work on 75 projects planned for Year 2, will begin in FY : Most projects include renovation work with construction values up to $1 million Several larger building replacement/addition projects are also included: Bunche Park Elementary Frederick Douglass Elementary West Homestead K-8 56 projects previously planned for Year 3 of the GOB Program have now been advanced and design will begin in FY : Includes primarily larger projects with construction values over $2 million Numerous building replacements Major renovation work at larger campuses Work at all campuses will include technology upgrades Projects previously planned for Year 4 through Year 7 are also being advanced by at least one year 29

30 Upcoming GO Bond Work Design professionals and contractors will be selected through competitive solicitations Advertisements for Architectural/Engineering Project Consultants and Construction Management at-risk firms under the District s s new SBE Program have been published Advertisements for SBE Job Order Contractors will be published in September 2013 Advertisements for larger projects will begin in Fall 2013 Eligible firms interested in participating in SBE solicitations must register now at GO Bond information at net 30
