9 ECB Grant Aid Programme Funding opportunities (Capital) Cricket Specific Eligible clubs may only submit an application after the approval of a County Development Manager and ECB Regional Funding and Facilities Manager Clubs need to be Clubmark accredited and have a Club Development Plan Need commitment to both adult and junior development Min 25% partnership funding required Non Turf Practice Net Areas Indoor Centre Upgrades/New Build Fine Turf Match Pitches Communal Changing Areas

10 Funding opportunities (Capital) Cricket Specific England & Wales Cricket Trust Small grants scheme Funding is used to help clubs improve their long-term sustainability by making small changes Energy efficiency measures to reduce revenue costs Improvements to social areas to generate more income Clubs can apply for a small grant (from 1,000 to 4,000) Pitch covers Social areas kitchen/indoor/outdoor Energy/water consumption Flood defence measures

12 Funding opportunities Cricket Specific Lord & Lady Taverner s Charity aiming to increase opportunities for regular participation, particularly young people in order to improve health and wellbeing Changed its focus from grant provision to expansion of its community cricket programmes, targeting young people in socially-deprived areas of the UK and those with disabilities Funds a range of programmes from disability cricket, community cricket participation schemes as well as grants for accessible minibuses and disability play equipment

13 Other funding opportunities Cricket Specific Chance to Shine a national charity on a mission to spread the power of cricket throughout schools and communities. chancetoshine.org StreetChance supported by Barclays Spaces for Sports is an inner-city cricket initiative targeting young people from disadvantaged backgrounds affected by youth crime and anti-social behaviour. streetchance.org Clubs can find out how they can get involved by visiting the scheme websites and also contacting County Board reps

Inspired Facilities Fund: 75K ( 150k for statutory bodies) Renovate/modernise facilities that resulted in increased participation. Small Grants: Up to 10k Small-scale capital projects Protecting Playing Fields: Up to 65k ( 100k for statutory bodies) Create/Improve natural turf pitches Improvement Fund: 150k-500k Strategic Facilities Fund: ( 500k - 2m) (Both of these were solicited schemes and projects needed to be linked to a wider strategy)

Mayor s Sports Legacy Fund: Large grants up to 150k. Next deadline 19 April Capital funding still TBC but likely to focus on Artificial Grass Pitches Various landfill trust companies E.g. Veolia Environmental Trust/Biffa award Civic community assets (e.g. community centres/play spaces. Some fund pitch and clubhouse works) Capital grants of ~ 50k+

17 Funding opportunities (Revenue) A 56 million Sport England programme aimed at year olds Grants up to 1,500 Fund one-off participation projects (6-8 weeks) aimed at the non-sporty Next round female focussed 10% match funding needed Need a clear sustainability strategy and exit routes Open March 8 th deadline 22 April 2016 Project must take place between July 2016 March 2017

18 Funding opportunities (Revenue): Satellite Clubs Managed by London Sport Grants ~ 1,200 on average Community Sports clubs establish a new satellite club in a school/college Benefits to clubs include: Target year olds Recruitment of new members and regular participants Create new opportunities for volunteers and leaders Reach further into the local community Boost the long-term sustainability of the club

19 Other Funding opportunities (Revenue) The Sports Legacy Fund 1) Skills and capacity building aims to build capacity in the sport and active leisure sector, including training for volunteers 2) Sports participation aims to support the expansion and growth of projects that provide opportunities for Londoners to take part in sport and stay active FreeSport Up to 1500 Organisations must provide free sport opportunities to participants No age restrictions Targets Inactive participants Match funding is required

22 Crowdfunding what do we know about it? Principle: A large number of people give a small amount of money Organisations seeking funding set up an online project profile and use social media to engage their network Crowdfunding for sport is: Donation Crowdfunding Donors have a social or personal motivation for putting their money in and expect nothing back, although there are instances where donations are given with some rewards This is an opportunity for both clubs and County NGBs..Devon FA example

30 Describing your Project Express aim clearly How you will achieve this aim Link your aim with the aims of the fund. Our aim is to set up a new girls football team. We will achieve this by delivering structured, high-quality football sessions to women and girls in the local area Therefore addressing one of the fund s key aims to increase regular female participation in activity.

31 Need and Demand Need: What is the local context? Demand: Will people come? Other local provisions Who are your participants? Why does the project need to happen? Are the numbers of participants realistic?

32 Need and Demand Types of Evidence Demand surveys, waitlist, letters of support, public consultation, questionnaires, pilot studies, taster sessions Local Context gap in local provision you can fill Barriers to participation that you can address (detail barriers and say how you will overcome them) Other local issues e.g. obesity levels, unemployment, crime etc Strategic Does your project align with your council s sport strategy? Sport England strategy?

Number of new sessions, how long they will last, how many people will take part What opportunities will you provide? Does this link back to the fund s aims? Does it provide value for money?
