Londonderry and working throughout Northern Ireland / Border Counties. Responsible To: Playhouse CEO & Project Board Hours: Contract: 40 Hours (including some evening hours & weekend work, with time off in lieu) 2.5 Year Contract Salary: 25,951-27,668 Job Purpose: To be responsible for the co-ordination of The Playhouse s Theatre Peace Building Project which has received funding of 859k from the EU Peace IV programme. The Playhouse has a strong record of developing arts initiatives in partnership with a wide variety of statutory and community / voluntary sector agencies with the aims of promoting a wide range of personal / social benefits including peacebuilding, community relations development, social inclusion & personal development. The Theatre Peace Building Project will work in partnership with Holywell Trust, Thomas D Arcy Foundation and Queens University to programme a range of nationally / internationally based theatre artists with significant experience of using arts activity in areas of conflict & post conflict / areas of social breakdown (for example former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, Israel, Palestine, Central & South America, USA inner cities) to promote healing, understanding and reconciliation within Northern Ireland / Border Counties.

2 The project will use Theatre as a tool to explore truth recovery, peace building & community relations issues in a safe, accessible environment. It will facilitate significant cross community interaction amongst participants from diverse backgrounds who will work collaboratively towards common goals. The project will result in meaningful, purposeful and sustained contact between persons from different communities with the aim of promoting positive community relations attitudinal and behavioural change. The project will target those people and communities most affected by the conflict, including representatives from interface & segregated areas, historical atrocities, victims and survivors and public sector workers who were significantly involved / impacted upon. Over a two and a half year period the project will work throughout Northern Ireland / Border Counties to deliver: 4 Scoping / Research & Development Studies, where national / international artists will meet a wide range of victims & survivors, statutory and community groups throughout N. Ireland / Border Counties and devise projects that will address their needs. The Scoping Studies will inform the subsequent National / International Residencies. 4 National / International Residencies throughout N. Ireland / Border Counties. Residencies will last for approx. 6 months, and will reach 28 cross community participants in total from one or more communities. Each Residency will create a multi-media theatre production that will be performed within its originating community / area and at The Playhouse. 8 Local Projects throughout N. Ireland / Border Counties, facilitated by the Local Artists mentored in the National / International Residencies. Each local projects will last approx weeks, and reach 48 community participants in total from one or more communities. Each Local Project will create a mini multi-media theatre production that will be performed within its originating community / area. Concluding Arts & Peace Building Conference Theatre Peace Building Project will employ: 1 x Project Coordinator: National / International Residencies 1 x Project Coordinator: Local Projects 1 x Project Administrator (0.5) Other Playhouse staff will also contribute to the project including Artistic Director, Theatre Producer, Marketing Officer, CEO and Financial Manager.

3 Key Tasks & Duties - Project Coordinator: National / International Residencies: To develop programmes of Theatre & Peace Building Academy Project activity in line with the ethos of The Playhouse, project partners and the agreed EU Peace IV funding package for the Theatre Peace Building Project. To liaise with the project team to artistically programme Theatre & Peace Building Academy Project s National / International Residencies. Liaise with The Playhouse s Artistic Director and Holywell Trust / Thomas D Arcy Foundation to research and establish links with a range of relevant community / public sector groups & individuals that fit with the aims of the project. To set up and manage 4 x Scoping Studies, delivered by National / International Artists, with relevant community / public sector groups & individuals. Liaise with the project team and selected community / public sector groups & individuals to agree each Residency s scope, timetable, aims / objectives, budget, artistic intervention, community relations context and other variables. Coordinate and produce 4 x National / International Residencies. Work to ensure each artist s vision is realised, and that all artistic outputs are of the highest possible quality, and are in line with the aims and objectives of The Playhouse s Theatre Peace Building Project. Recruit and retain appropriate participants for the Residencies. Procure and obtain all external services and supplies required to facilitate the successful implementation of the job purpose, in line with SEUPB s procurement guidelines. Negotiate contracts, liaise with, and manage all artists, facilitators, designers, managers, placements, volunteers and others to facilitate the successful implementation of the Theatre Peace Building Project. Programme and coordinate the Concluding Conference in partnership with the project team. Effectively use SEUPB s electronic management system (ems). Liaise with Queens University to establish and deliver effective monitoring procedures, and evaluate the project at mid-term and end of project. Co-ordinate the documentation of all projects.

4 Work with the project team to deliver the project s communication plan, including writing and submitting press releases, advertisements, developing and updating website, and other marketing information. Adhere to deadlines and timetables for the development, and implementation of The Playhouse s Theatre Peace Building Project. Ensure that all agreed objectives, milestones & targets are met for the project. Oversee appropriate budgets, and implement effective financial procedures and budgetary control. Support the Project Administrator to prepare and submit funding claims to SEUPB and any other appropriate body. Maintain risk management procedures. Regularly report project progress to SEUPB / EU, Playhouse Board of Management, Project Board, Advisory Board, CEO and other appropriate bodies Respond to general enquiries from the general public and other bodies regarding the Theatre Peace Building Project, and offer best advice. Implement The Playhouse s statutory responsibilities and procedures in respect to insurance, employment, equal opportunities, child / vulnerable adult protection, data protection, security, health & safety and other appropriate areas. Undertake routine office duties associated with project control.

5 Personnel Specification The Playhouse is seeking an experienced, committed and sensitive arts & peacebuilding coordinator to co-lead this important project. Experience: Essential At least three years of experience of: Project Management, particularly within Theatre Production, Film Production or Community Arts. Delivering Community Relations and / or Arts & Peace Building projects. Liaising and working with community, voluntary, public and statutory agencies. Budgeting, cash flow forecasting and financial management. Leading and working in a team. Administering public sector funding. Strategic planning, networking & facilitation. Desirable Experience of delivering projects funded under EU Peace III. Skills & Expertise A third level degree plus three year s work experience in Arts Development, Community Development or other relevant discipline. Ability to work empathically and sensitively with a wide range of communities. Significant knowledge of The Troubles and its legacy & impact throughout Northern Ireland / Border Counties. Proven ability to effectively manage complex community based projects. Computer literacy.
