2 What is RinR? A national scheme to replenish the UK research base: Places early stage career researchers into schools for mutual benefit Creates and delivers innovative placement projects

3 Who runs RinR? Funding - Research Councils (RCUK) + Wellcome Trust Management - AEA (based in Oxfordshire) Managed centrally, delivered regionally through coordinators Scotland and Northern Ireland (Glengarnock) North East England and East Midlands (York) North West England and West Midlands (Birchwood, Warrington) Wales and South West (Cardiff) London and the South East (Oxford)

5 Aims and objectives Engaging tomorrow s talent today! Create mutually beneficial relationships betweens schools and researchers and their universities Inspire young people to study A levels and go to university Raise awareness of range of research subjects and careers

6 Who can apply? RinR is open to applications from: Research Council and Wellcome Trust-funded researchers Secondary schools and 6 th form colleges RinR placements cover: ALL subjects STEM and non-stem age group Easy online application system!

7 What is a placement? An innovative project that extends / adds value to the curriculum Key Stage or across year groups Up to 24 hours duration per year Flexible week(s), term, school year Includes lessons, after-school clubs, lab visits, outreach Results showcased on RinR website

8 How does RinR work? Match based on set criteria Induction training and CRB checks Advice to teachers Online training, advice and guidance One-to-one mentoring and support Helpline 0900 to 1700 Mon-Fri
