5 Introduction Buildings Outreach Goal: Promote NYSERDA s energy efficiency services programs through outreach and customer support. Services are at no-cost to you and can include: On site meeting to discuss and prioritize needs and objectives Identify appropriate NYSERDA funding vehicles Provide energy savings estimate and incentives amounts for identified measures Work in conjunction with facility managers, vendors and consultants Prepare NYSERDA applications Ensure positive program experience from application to final incentive payment 5

6 Funding Opportunities 1. New Construction (up to $1,000,000) Financial incentives for energy efficiency measures in new or substantially renovated facilities. 2. Industrial & Process Efficiency (up to $6,000,000) Financial incentives for energy-saving projects in data centers and manufacturing facilities. 3. Existing Facilities (up to $2,000,000) Funding for energy efficiency upgrades to existing facilities. 4. FlexTech (up to $1,000,000) 50% cost share for energy efficiencyrelated engineering studies, master plans, retro-commissioning, and energy efficiency management. 6

7 Existing Facilities Program (EFP) Overview Financial incentives for energy-saving improvements to existing commercial facilities. Two paths to incentives: 1. Performance-based Custom incentives for large capital improvements 2. Pre-qualified Fixed incentives on dollar-per-unit basis for smaller energy projects and equipment upgrades 7

14 Pre-Qualified Incentives Fixed incentives for small energy projects and equipment upgrades Up to $60,000 per facility ($30,000 max for electric improvements, $30,000 max for natural gas improvements) Apply post-installation Incentives on dollar-per-unit basis for lighting, HVAC, refrigeration, gas equipment and other categories Check NYSERDA s website for list of eligible equipment 14

15 EDGE PROGRAM Economic Development Growth Extension Program Offers local, regionally-based assistance to extend program outreach and access. EDGE Regional Outreach Contractors (ROCs): Act as a one-stop reference for all NYSERDA programs Match energy project needs with appropriate incentive programs Assist companies complete the Consolidated Funding Application (CFA)

17 FlexTech Program Up to 50% cost share for energyrelated engineering studies including but not limited to: Energy feasibility studies Comprehensive energy analysis Benchmarking Retrocommissioning Peak load reduction Up to $1 Million per study 17

18 Customer Eligibility Must pay Systems Benefit Charge (SBC) Funds public initiatives Line item on most NY utility bills: Upstate (CHG&E, National Grid, NYSEG, O&R, RGE, etc.) Downstate (Con Edison) X Long Island Power Authority X 100% power from New York Power Authority 18

19 Project Eligibility NYSERDA s Total Resource Cost (TRC) Each project must pass TRC screening. Components needed for TRC screening include: project costs per measure, per building (motors, controls, lighting, etc) energy savings per measure, per building (motors, controls, lighting, etc) O&M savings for each measure Simple Payback Requirements Eligible EFP projects must have a simple payback of 1-18 years for EFP 19

20 Application Program Process 1. Application All projects must submit online Consolidated Funding Application Supporting documentation (ex: utility bill proving SBC, project scope and equipment specs) is required and varies by program Outreach contractors available for application support 2. Review NYSERDA reviews supporting documentation and approves application Performance-based energy savings verified through pre- and post-installation site visit* 3. NYSERDA issues check to applicant *M&V period may be required for large projects 20
