1 2015 Work to Weekend Shirtdress Announcing a judged competition in conjunction with The Melbourne Stitches & Craft Show Sponsored by Expertise Events Pty Ltd The competition: Home sewers, students and anyone with a love of sewing is invited to enter a competition to create a Work to Weekend Shirtdress. Professional seamstresses, dressmakers, tailors and fashion designers who make their living from their trade are ineligible to enter. This is a competition for the home sewer. The 2015 theme: Work to Weekend, A Shirtdress Total prize pool: $1,000 to be divided as follows: There are two categories: Category One: General: open to all sewists, non professional. 1 st prize: $250 2 nd prize: $150 3 rd prize: $100 Category Two: Open to sewists under 30 years of age at October 1, 2015, non-professional. 1 st prize: $250 2 nd prize: $150 3 rd prize: $100

2 Rules and entry form: 1. Entries will be judged on creativity, interpretation of the theme, design merit and workmanship by a panel of three independent expert judges. 2. The competition is open to the public to individual entries only and open to non-professional sewists only. Professional seamstresses, dressmakers, tailors and fashion designers, etc who make their living from their trade are ineligible to enter. A limit of two entries per person applies. 3. This competition is open to residents of Australia only. 4. Entries must have been completed after June 2015, not prior to this. 5. Employees and family members of Expertise Events are not eligible to enter. 6. If a commercial pattern/s was used as the basis for this design, this must be acknowledged on the entry form. 7. Entries must be labelled clearly inside the garment with the entrant s name, address, telephone number and , and the name of the work. Labels must be cloth and securely stitched to the inside of the work. 8. The entrant stated on the Entry Form must be the maker of the entry. 9. Entries are to be completed from textile materials, not paper, plastic or metal. Embellishments may include other material components. 10. Entries must be able to fit into a carton measuring: maximum length on longest side no more than one metre and maximum girth (measured around the other two dimensions) no more than 140cm, and must weigh no more than 5kg. 11. Entries must be available for display at the Melbourne Stitches & Craft Show,, at Caulfield Racecourse and other craft events through until April Entries must be posted, not delivered personally. Shipping information will be sent to finalists. Do not send your entry unless you are notified that you are a finalist. Entries cannot be collected in person at the event but will be returned by post to the owner in April 2016 after the exhibition tour is complete. 13. Expertise Events will take all care but no responsibility for any damage to or theft of an entry that occurs while the entry is in the care of Expertise Events. If insurance of any kind is required, this is the responsibility of the entrant and will be at their cost. How to enter: 14. ENTRY FORM DEADLINE: Complete the online entry form BEFORE September 10, 2015, and upload four digital images of the entry showing the garment modelled by the person it was created for. Photos should show the: FRONT, BACK, DESIGN DETAIL and garment from the INSIDE. A panel of judges will then select up to 15 finalists (in total) based on the entry form statements and the digital images of the works. The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into. Upon seeing the final works, the competition sponsors reserve the right to decide which works will be included in the exhibition. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any work that does not match the images submitted to the judges. The judges may reserve the right to withhold an award if the standard of work does not warrant the award, or award two equal winners to share the prize.

3 Four digital images must be uploaded in high res jpgs (over 300 dpi) for each work entered. One image must be showing the FRONT of the entry, one showing the BACK of it, one showing DETAIL and one showing the INSIDE. All digital images must be high res and between 2mB and 4mB. Digital images should be uploaded via the online form. All digital images submitted must be good quality, clear and well lit. The digital images will be used for selection purposes and/or publicity and promotion, and the final entries selected for the exhibition may also be professionally photographed for publicity and all other promotional purposes as Expertise Events see fit in their absolute discretion. Expertise Events reserves the right to edit digital images of works to render them suitable for publication online or in printed collateral. Any editing will not compromise the integrity of the work. 16. Copyright & Moral Rights: By entering the competition the entrants give permission for Expertise Events Pty Ltd (Expertise Events) to photograph their garment and agree and acknowledge that all copyright of the photographs that Expertise Events take of an entrant s work is that of Expertise Events. The entrant further grants Expertise Events licence to produce, reproduce and publish an entrant s statement as it is submitted on the entry form in whole or part throughout the world, which may be used in articles, ads, promotions, catalogues, books, websites, CDs, current-event news coverage, television productions, and/or multimedia productions for The Stitches & Craft Show in perpetuity from time to time. The entrant retains copyright in the photographs which the entrant submits with their entry save and except that the entrant grants Expertise Events the right to reproduce the digital photographs forwarded with the entry form, in a format for the purposes of the internal judging process and/or publicity and promotion. 17. Entry Deadline: All online entry forms and digital images must be completed and uploaded no later than September 10, Length of exhibit: The participating garment must be available for display for the duration of the Melbourne Stitches & Craft Show () through to April 2016 and will remain in the possession of Expertise Events for this period. 19. Finalists as selected by the judging panel will be displayed at: The Melbourne Stitches & Craft Show, October 22 to 25, 2015 and other selected craft events conducted by Expertise Events. 21. Confirmation of receipt of finalist artworks. It will be up to the entrant to contact Expertise Events on to ensure receipt of delivery. No liability will be accepted by either Expertise Events for the failure of the postal system delivery. 22. Notification of Selection. After entries are judged, finalists will be selected and notified by and the relevant Shipping Form for garment submission sent by . All finalists will be contacted by September 18, The judges decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding finalist selection. 23. Sending Entries for Final Judging. If you are selected as a finalist, you must then send your actual garment for judging. The selected works must be sent by the entrant, at his or her own expense, to arrive no later than: October 2, Shipping details will be given at the time of notification that you have been selected as a finalist. You will be required to send details of how you would like your entry returned and the funds/stamps to cover the cost of return. 24. Awarding of prize monies. Winners will be selected and announced during the Melbourne Stitches & Craft Show, and notified by phone and the following week. Winners must provide bank account details by November 22, 2015 so that prize money can be credited into their account. In the

4 event that a winner cannot be contacted or does not provide account details by the deadline, Expertise Events reserves the right to withhold prize money or move to the next highest judged entry up in selection. 25. Entry Returns. Entries will be returned by post in April or before if they are not required for touring to other craft events. Entries CANNOT be collected at the Show. DO NOT SEND GARMENT PRIOR TO NOTIFICATION THAT YOU ARE CHOSEN AS A FINALIST. SUMMARY: COMPETITION DEADLINES September 10, 2015 Deadline to send entry form, digital images and prints September 18, 2015 Notification of finalists October 2, 2015 Deadline for receiving actual entry Judging, announcement and exhibition of the prize-winners April 2016 Garment returned to owner Acknowledgement of agreement I agree that by entering the competition I give permission to Expertise Events Pty Ltd (Expertise Events) for the following activities: i) To photograph my garment and I agree and acknowledge that all copyright in the photographs that Expertise Events take of my garment is that of Expertise Events. ii) I further grant to Expertise Events a license to produce, reproduce and publish in whole or part throughout the world my statement as is submitted on the entry form which may be used in articles, ads, promotions, catalogues, books, websites, CDs, current event news coverage, television productions, and/or multimedia productions for and about The Stitches & Craft Show and any other event in perpetuity from time to time by Expertise Events.

5 iii) I understand that I retain the copyright in the photographs which I submit with this entry save and except that I grant Expertise Events the right to reproduce the digital photographs forwarded in with the entry form into a format for the purposes of the internal judging process and/or publicity and promotion.
