15 DoD Research and Education Program for Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Minority-Serving Institutions (HBCU/MI) Description: Aims to (a) enhance research programs and capabilities in scientific and engineering disciplines critical to the DoD; (b) enhance the capacity of HBCU/MI to participate in DoD research programs and activities; and (c) increase the number of graduates, including underrepresented minorities, in STEM fields. 16 National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate (NDSEG) Fellowship Description: DoD fellowship program for U.S. citizens and nationals enrolled in a graduate programs in science or engineering leading to a Ph.D. Fellows do not incur any military or other service obligations. 17 National Research Council Resident Research Associateship (NRC/RRA) Program Status: Opens: June 1, 2015 Closes: August 1, 2015 Awards: Stipend, insurance, relocation and travel, up to 3 years Total Program: $8.5M Description: Offers postdoctoral and senior scientists and engineers opportunities to perform research at sponsoring U.S. Air Force laboratory sites. U.S. citizens and permanent residents who have held doctorates for less than five years are eligible to apply. AFRL Aerospace Systems Directorate Status: Application Opens: Sep 2015 Application Closes: Nov 2015 Award: Stipend, temporary residence allowance and travel Total Program: $4.6M Description: Offers fellowships to university faculty and their graduate students to conduct research at one of the U.S. Air Force research facilities during the summer for eight to twelve weeks.
