1 Page 1 NONPROFIT MANAGEMENT SERIES NONPROFITS: MEETING TODAY S CHALLENGES Presented by Course Description: Whether you are preparing for an entry level position working for a nonprofit organization, you are currently employed by a nonprofit and seeking to hone your skills, or you serve on a nonprofit Board or volunteer, this course is designed to provide an overview of best practices from starting a new nonprofit organization or ensuring that your agency is meeting the highest standards of nonprofit management. The course covers forming a nonprofit organization, board responsibilities and recruitment, strategic planning, fundraising and development, marketing and public relations, financial management, staff and volunteer recruitment and retention, and program development. Emphasis is placed on practical application of sound practices that uniquely apply to nonprofits. Classes are organized into 5 units comprised of 11 class sessions ( Link To syllabus) 1. Best Practices and Board Development 2. Strategic Planning 3. Administration, Staffing and Volunteers 4. Risk and Money Management 5. Fundraising, Marketing and Communications Who Will Benefit: Registration is open to individuals and organizations. Individuals may register for all 11 sessions, or by Unit. Organizations may designate any staff member or volunteer to attend the session of their choosing. Up to 2 additional members of an organization may attend any session at an additional cost of $15 per individual, per session. Cost: Individuals: $175 for all 5 units (11 class sessions) $50 for each Unit Organizations: $175 for all 11 sessions 1 person per session $15 for each additional person per session Course Format: Face-to-face plus a community application project with a nonprofit organization. Individual follow-up and mentoring is included at no additional cost. 1 P a g e
