WFF program was established in July 2008 and was timed to coincide with the UN declared the International Year of Planet Earth. UN General Assembly declared 2008 the International Year of Planet Earth. In its resolution that "the Year could play a decisive role, particularly in raising public awareness about the importance of sustainable development processes taking place on the Earth and the rational exploitation of its resources, disaster prevention, reduction of poverty and mitigation, capacity building resource management and that it will make an important contribution to the Decade of Education for Sustainable Development United Nations." The General Assembly encouraged all Member States, the United Nations and all other parties to use the Year to increase awareness of the importance of earth sciences for sustainable development and to stimulate action for nature conservation at the local, national, regional and international levels, different countries. Protected areas - a land, water surface and air space above them, which are natural complexes and objects that have special environmental, scientific, Page 3 of 17
4 cultural, aesthetic, recreational and curative value. These territories seized by a public authority wholly or partly of economic use for them have been afforded special protection. Protected areas are sites of national heritage. Federal laws of all countries that have specially protected natural areas, regulate relations in the organization, protection and use of protected areas to preserve the unique and typical natural complexes and objects, remarkable natural formations, flora and fauna, their gene pool, studies natural processes in the biosphere and monitoring the change in its status, the environmental education of the population. According to many scientists, one of the most valuable natural resources in the XXI century. will be kept pristine wilderness areas. They maintained the integrity of natural systems necessary to maintain the ecological balance on Earth. They directly affect the quality of life, are a source of clean water and clean air. The word "health" is associated wonder with wildlife, and we have in mind the nature not covered destructive economic activity and protected in nature reserves, national parks and other protected areas. 5 2 WFF program management Note WFF Guide Foundation is the governing body of the WFF program. 2.2 The head of the WFF program forms the WFF Committee of protected areas and is its chairman. 2.3 The head of the WFF program is part of the WFF Executive Committee and approved by the Fund Management of the WFF. 2.4 The head of the WFF program is guided according to the position of official duties. It includes specially protected natural areas in most countries of the world. Each territory is assigned a unique alphanumeric identification code that indicates membership in a particular country or territory of the world and the serial number of the references, for example: China: Germany Spain BYFF-154 DLFF-024 EAFF-019 Wuyishan Biosphere reserve Flusslandschaft Elbe Biosphere reserve Sierra de Grazalema Biosphere reserve etc., corresponding to a protected natural area in the world classification of the WFF program. The list of references in the WFF Directory is not final and may be changed as Page 6 of 17
7 interest clubs, organizations or individual resident amateurs who are willing to provide to the WFF Committee request that includes accurate and competent materials on the existing protected areas, with links to the main source of the Ministries or State other specialized organizations. 5.1 Adding new areas in the WFF directory and editing the existing list is in the immediate competence of the WFF References Manager. 8 5.2.5 Jun 2012 Application is to be done by form. form 2012.xls Note New references shall be valid for WFF EITHER retrospectively to the date of eligibility OR from the date of inclusion in the WFF Directory. 6 Terms of activation of WFF areas When the words activation and activity are to be read as activation of one WFF area. 6.1 While working within a protected area included in the list of the WFF program, all equipment (antennas, transceiver, power supply ect.) must be within the boundaries of the territory.
