10 There is no maximum or minimum level of grant, although it is unusual for a grant of less than 10,000 to be made. In some situations the Trust may make a short-term loan. Most grants are made over one, two or three years. The Trust understands that tackling deep-rooted problems takes time so funding is sometimes available over a longer period, usually by making a further grant following on from the original one. However, applicants should be aware that the Trust's funding cannot continue indefinitely. The Trust also engages with the groups it supports by offering advice and development support where this is needed. The Trust currently funds one in ten applications. Tudor Trust Enquiries Tudor Trust 7 Ladbroke Grove W11 3BD Tel: applications@tudortrust.org.uk Waste Recycling Environmental (WREN) - FCC Community Action Fund Funding Body: WREN Grants for environmental and community-based projectsin areas of England and Wales close to Waste Recycling Group landfill sites. Projects must provide, maintain or improve a public park or other public amenity. 22/02/2017 Maximum Value: 50,000 Minimum Value: 2,000 Grants of between 2,000 and 50,000 are available for projects with a maximum total cost of 500,000. This is a fiercely competitive funding programme. At the June 2016 round of applications, WREN received funding requests in excess of 6 million. Third Party Funding Page 10 of 13
11 Under the Landfill Communities Fund, Waste Recycling Group Ltd can voluntarily pass to WREN a percentage of its Landfill Tax bill for distribution to suitable projects. Of this, the Government only allows WRG plc a 90% credit against this amount. In order to mitigate the losses incurred by participating in the Scheme, Waste Recycling Group (as a condition of providing WREN with the Landfill Tax Credits) requires project applicants to secure the help of eligible 'Third Parties' who will reimburse them with an amount equal to 10.75% of any grant committed. The figure of 10.75% also takes into account the automatic levy charged by the scheme's regulator ENTRUST together with a proportion of the costs associated with administering the grant. The key consideration regarding Third Party funding is the term 'Unique Benefit'. Simply, a Third Party funder cannot gain any unique benefit from the project put forward for funding. Examples of organisations which can be Third Party funders are as follows: Private companies. Public sector organisations such as local authorities or county councils. Charities. Voluntary organisations. Private donors. A person who shares the benefits with others, for example, a member of a church congregation or a person who uses with others, a village hall or other community facility. The 10.75% amount should not be included as part of the grant application and must not be included in the project funding calculations. The Third Party funding transaction, while facilitated by WREN, is a transaction outside the realms of the project and its associated costs. The payment is made directly from the Third Party funder to the landfill operator, Waste Recycling Group.
