2 2016 Award for Outstanding Philanthropic Support of Higher Education The Business/Higher Education Round Table invites applications from business, industry and university partners demonstrating outstanding achievements in collaboration between business and higher education. This program of prestigious awards initiated in 1998 highlights at a national level the benefits of such collaboration and enhanced links between industry and universities. Objective This national award for Philanthropic Support recognises support for higher education and draws attention to the extent of this support. The award focuses on the key role philanthropic support plays in enabling important and innovative programs and in leveraging further support. Eligibility The award is made to an individual, family, group, foundation, charitable entity or other entity that through their leadership, custom, advocacy and example has encouraged and/or provided philanthropic support to one or more higher education institutions. Nominations can be made by one or more institutions that have received philanthropic support from the nominee. The person completing this nomination should be aware of the achievements of the nominee in the context of the nominee s leadership in higher education philanthropy. Criteria for Assessment 1. What philanthropic activities initiated or supported by the nominee have generated effective outcomes for your organisation and/or the higher education sector? 2. How has the nominee demonstrated a continuing commitment to higher education philanthropy and to encouraging and broadening philanthropic support for Australia s higher education sector? 3. What are the objectives and values that have underscored the nominee s philanthropic support for your organisation and/or the higher education sector? 4. How has the nominee demonstrated leadership in altering attitudes to the merits of supporting higher education through personal and professional advocacy? 5. Provide examples of the benefits from the nominee s philanthropic support and the type of support provided. Submission Process Each application must be submitted electronically via B/HERT s online portal and signed by all participating partners. Letters of support written by participating organisations should address outcomes and beneficial features of the collaboration. Note: Provision has been made for submissions to attach tables, photographs, graphics or video clips (a maximum of 10Mb can be uploaded as an attachment; files larger than 10Mb should be uploaded on YouTube via upload button and the link provided below.) The inclusion of such multimedia demonstrations is highly recommended if they serve to highlight the scope of a project s effectiveness. Presentation of the Awards The presentation of the Awards will be made at the B/HERT Awards Dinner on 15 November 2016 at Melbourne, Crown Towers, Palladium C. Guests at the dinner will include members of B/HERT, Vice-Chancellors, CEOs, senior executives from universities, industry and professional associations, key stakeholders, government representatives, members of the community. Where possible, please include both qualitative and quantitative information in your responses. 1.
